The Aspen Institute has released their Virginia Western Community College and Goodwill Industries of the Valleys Partnership Case Study Report titled "Working Together and Making a Difference." The Report is designed to inform community college and workforce leaders of best practices for launching and expanding partnerships to serve students more effectively.

Goodwill's GoodCare Provides Free Health Care Training
Information sessions now open to those interested in pursuing a career in health care 
 
Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, headquartered in Roanoke, was awarded a one-year Health Professionals Opportunity Grant (HPOG) from the US Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Family Assistance in the amount of $2,567,650. Through this grant, Goodwill w ill be operating GoodCare, a free healthcare training program.

"How does Goodwill thank our supporters, volunteers, and the
community we serve?" asked Laura Rawlings, Director of Develop ment for Goodwill. "We have a Holiday Open House! Those attending also had the opportunity to be the first to see Goodwill's new classrooms for Hospitality, Technology, and Health Care training."

Second Annual Working for Independence Breakfast
Event raised funds to support Goodwill's mission

 
Goodwill hosted its second annual Working for Independence
Breakfast on November 5th at the Sheraton in Roanoke. Over 275 people were in attendance at the breakfast that highlighted the impact that Goodwill, together with its donors, is having on our community.

Goodwill Announces New Board Leadership and Directors
New Officers and a new Director lead the Board in 2016

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that provides vital support through guidance and fiduciary responsibility. The board is comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds and fairly represents the geographical regions served by the organization.

You Made a Difference by Rounding Up!
Your change has changed lives!

Thanks to our shoppers that chose to Round Up their purchase to the nearest dollar, Goodwill is able to provide critical funding to job training and employment programs that help people get back to work. Who said pennies don't add up much? In 2015, $332,000 was raised to support programs that help youth, adults, and seniors in our community achieve a better life through work and independence.

"I've learned a great deal about Goodwill Industries of the Valleys the past two years," said Celi Stoutamire. "And it all began when I was invited to a Real Goodwill tour at the Melrose Jobs Campus." Individuals who attend a Real Goodwill tour have the opportunity to hear from volunteers, families of program participants, and Goodwill Leadership about the real Goodwill.
