APRIL 2016
OPENING STATEMENT

On April 13, 2016, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, "Employment in companies with fewer than 100 workers reached a record in the third quarter, soaring past prerecession levels. Companies with fewer than 100 employees are behind 44 percent of the state's 1.34 million jobs, and 98 percent of its 75,000 work sites." (To read the full article, please click here. )

It is clear that small business is the engine that keeps our economy running. What should be equally clear is that you need to regularly check under the hood to make sure your engine is operating properly. When is the last time you took a peek to see if your business is functioning at optimal levels?

I will not use the car analogy any further since I don't know anything about cars. What I do know, however, is how to help you protect and maintain your business. Do you have the proper protections against liability in place? Are you using best practices to create and grow your workforce? Have you maintained proper documentation to ensure that if you do get sued, or need to sue someone else, you are prepared for battle?

Please call Gordon Law if you are uncomfortable with your answers to any of these question.
DISCOVERY

You may have recently read or heard about the "Panama Papers" - leaked documents that show a scheme by public officials and wealthy individuals to hide wealth through offshore shell companies. However, you may not be aware of the Nevada connection and how the abuses of the corrupt may affect the protections of Nevada Limited Liability Companies.

Please read more here to see how your business' privacy may be affected.
IN SUMMATION

As you may know, I serve on the IMPAC Committee for the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. IMPAC is the Chamber's PAC. In this capacity, I have the opportunity to interview candidates for the Nevada Legislature to determine whether their viewpoint is beneficial for business. The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will be releasing endorsements for the primary election in June and then for the general election in November. I am happy to share those endorsements to enable you to know where candidates stand in relation to issues impacting Nevada businesses. Please contact me if you would like to receive the lists of endorsed candidates.
