Affiliate Program Highlights
|
|
With April as National Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month, many CASA programs held events, including pinwheels for prevention displays and 5K runs.
Bartow County CASA placed pinwheels on the lawn of the old courthouse in Cartersville and held an Awareness Day downtown, holding signs and dancing with Quacky, their duck mascot. Quacky reminded the community about the Duck Dash and Fun Run and the Duck Derby that were all held in May to benefit Advocates for Bartow's Children, the umbrella organization for Bartow County CASA.
Children's Voice: CASA, serving Douglas County, had two staff members - Ann Mathis and Joy Bates - who presented a workshop at the National CASA Conference in Seattle in June. The topic was technology and volunteer engagement. This was the second year they presented at the conference.
The
CASA organization in Georgia was featured on 11Alive's Atlanta & Co. show in April. Graham Crowther, CASA volunteer with Fulton County CASA, and Jennifer King, Program Operations Director with Georgia CASA, were guests on the show. They shared about the CASA organization and need for many more CASA volunteers to be everyday heroes for children in foster care.
