As I was scrolling through some images the other day, I came upon one that boldly proclaimed, "Not a fan of Jesus." The smaller text at the bottom read, "Being a completely committed follower."

In reviewing our programs at last night's Vestry meeting, we realized how many people were engaged in the ministries of our  parish. Although small in number, we are big on commitment. People don't come to Grace Church to be consumers, to be a fan of Jesus. We are striving to be followers instead, to take up our cross and follow Christ.
Join us this Lent as we discover what it means to say that we are not fans of Jesus, we are living members of the body of Christ.
This Sunday

Our Lenten readings from the Jewish Scripture tell stories of the promises, the covenants God has made with us. This week, this covenant is carried on with Abraham. In the Gospel, after declaring Jesus as the Messiah, Peter then wants Jesus to stop telling them about his death. Jesus reminds us all that we each must pick up our cross and follow him.

The Choral Eucharist at 10:30 am will begin with a penitential office. The anthem will be "Lord for thy Tender Mercies' Sake," frequently attributed to Richard Farrant. Caroline Watson-Felt will share her stewardship "epistle" to the parish and The Rev. Laurel Deery will preach. The Birthday prayer and blessing for those with birthdays in March will be offered.

Following the service, a discussion of the Lenten program from the Society of St. John the Evangelist (the Episcopal monastery in Cambridge) will take place in the Common Room.

Celtic Meditations at 5:00 pm will consider the Third Station of the Cross: Jesus falls for the first time. The meditations used this season are from a collection of poems by Cynthia Duda written for Grace Church. Following this service, we will meet to discuss the Lenten program from SSJE.

See you Sunday!

Celtic Service every Sunday at 5:00 pm

Our service this Sunday will consider the moment on Good Friday when Jesus falls for the first time on his way to Calvary. The poem, called "Tacking" by Cynthia Duda, poignantly considers moments historic and memorable of Love's presence when we fall. Light prayers, music from the Celtic tradition, healing and communion will be offered.

Following the service, we will gather to discuss the Lenten Series from SSJE.

Wonderful Online Lenten Study
with Discussion after Sunday Services

So much of our stress and anxiety derives from our pollution of Time. God has given us the gift of time, and called it holy, yet we often experience time as a curse. In a series of short, daily videos over five weeks, the Brothers of SSJE invite us to recapture time as a gift. Join the Brothers as they wrestle with questions of time and discover how to experience the joy of the present moment. The videos are found at their website

www.ssje.org/ssje/time/

Those interested may then gather after the 10:30 am and 5:00 pm services for discussion. Whether you want to join us for discussion on not, why don't you explore the website for more information and to receive the videos. So let's stop, pray, work, play and love this Lent.
Spring is coming!
The weather has prevented many of us from attending events at church which means we are a bit behind in our pledge payments. Even if you cannot get out, please mail us your envelopes or checks so that we can continue to support the life at Grace Church. Yes, spring is coming, but until then, remember your stewardship!
