Faith Journey Timeline Part III:
The community at Boston University did not have a particularly active Episcopal presence when I was there. Jack Smith, the chaplain was very good friends with James Carroll (yes, that James Carroll) who was the Roman Catholic chaplain. We thought nothing of combining our programs, and had a wonderful time sharing our common understandings and learning about our differences. I also taught confirmation class at St. Stephen's in the South End, Boston. The class was made up entirely of Latinos, which gave me a great opportunity to develop my Spanish language skills and to explore their culture while I walked with them through their questions of life and faith. Two experiences during those four years that expanded my understanding of who makes up this body of Christ. I learned "on the ground" how to share my faith with others while allowing theirs to work on me. - Debbie

The Passion of our Lord: Palm Sunday
|
This week, the joyful singing of hosannas to our King quickly turn to jeers as we hear the reading of the Passion of our Lord.
At all three services, palms will be blessed. At the 8:00 am service, the Passion according to Matthew will be read with the congregation joining in some of the dialogue, followed by communion. At the Young and the Restless Chapel at 9:00 am, the children will learn a hosanna song and march around their educational suite, followed by communion. At the 10:30 am Choral Eucharist, we will process outside, return to hear a dramatic reading of the Passion before receiving the holy food.
Come and experience the mystery of this holy day.

This Sunday, the choir will sing Thomas Morley's, "Nolo mortem peccatoris" (I do not want a sinner's death). This short motet takes its text from an intriguing macaronic poem, which dates from the 15th century or earlier.
The John Redford poem, which may be found here has well over 20 verses and speaks of the trial and suffering of Jesus. The anthem contains the first two verses of this poem.
The choir and Ryan hope that this music will enable you to enter into the awe filled mystery of Holy Week.

Committee Report - Communications/Engagement
|
|
We have been busy in preparation for Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter. Special invitations have been sent out to those whom we haven't seen in a while. Postcard invites will be placed in our neighbors' doors. A special welcome packet has been designed and will be placed in all the pews for our guests in time for Palm Sunday.
- Want to help out? This Thursday, at 10:30 am, we will gather to fill the welcome packets and place them in the pews. There are a few other sundry administrative things to finish up. Won't you join us?
- Greeters' Training this Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Grace Church. Offering hospitality as a greeter may only take an extra 15 minutes once a month, but it is one of the most significant ministries there is in the church. Jesus calls us to welcome all to his house, his community, his body. Who knows who God will send through our doors? Come and learn how to welcome the angels that he sends.

Don't say to yourself "I can't do that", because you can and Ron will show you how. If you have a computer, visit his website at www.ronharrisonart.com, you'll even see a painting of the Grace Church courtyard.
Classes will be on Wednesday mornings from 10 to 12. Cost is $20 a session on a pay-as-you-go basis. Credit and debit cards accepted. Call Ron at 978-744-2578 to enroll.
