This week's Gospel reading is Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52.
The Kingdom is subversive, undermining the cynicism and suspicion of our age. Hard to see directly, like a tiny seed or yeast, its effects are huge. Do we cultivate countless little kindnesses until they blossom? Do we go on pounding, kneading away, insisting on finding the smallest good in the stickiest situations? Is our belief (that the unexpected is around the corner) worth all we have, like treasure and pearls, visible?

Quinlan Burial Service Tomorrow
|
Tomorrow (Tuesday, 7/22) morning at 11am at Grace, we will be celebrating the life of David Quinlan (November 17, 1942 - July 1, 2014). All are welcome to come for the service, as well as the reception in Abbott Hall afterwards.

This week we welcome Fr. Brian Murdoch as our guest. Brian hails from Boston and has had a breadth of experience in all things religious and spiritual. One Globe columnist referred to him by saying, "Brian has the gift of personal hospitality, that is, he habitually invites people into himself, and when they accept the invitation, they find a man prepared not only to be a friend, but also - and here is what makes him a priest - a witness to God's nearness." We are grateful that he has welcomed us to him in Christ this morning. May we return the favor.

As the Special Ask donations are still coming in, we would like to gratefully announce that, because of the donations thus far, we are now over 50% funded for our current deficit! We are looking forward to balancing everything out by the end of the summer. Thanks to everyone who has participated or who plans to!
We are asking that each household make a special one time donation of $600 to Grace Church to eliminate our deficit for 2014 and so that we may hire a part time administrator for the office, as Debbie can not continue with the added responsibilities forever. Please direct your payments to "Grace Church" noting "Special Ask" in the memo line. Thank you.
