Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Special Ask! We are now over 50% funded for our current deficit, but have not yet reached our goal. We are asking that each household make a special one time donation of $600 to Grace Church to eliminate our deficit for 2014 and so that we may hire a part time administrator for the office, as Debbie can not continue with the added responsibilities forever. Please direct your payments to "Grace Church" noting "Special Ask" in the memo line. Thank you.

Sunday Evening Musicians Needed
During Debbie's sabbatical, one of her projects is to design a Celtic meditative service that will be offered on Sunday evenings beginning this fall. More information on the service itself will be announced soon, but we will be in need of instrumentalists (any instrument is welcome) to lead the musical worship aspect of the service. If you or someone you know might be interested or would like more information, please contact Ryan Patten ([email protected]).

This week's Gospel reading is John 3:13-17, one of the most familiar passages in the Bible.
"God so loved the world..." These famous lines take us to the heart of the cross and to God's loving purposes of redemption. Often read personalistically ("Christ died for me"), they also have universal application, not just to all humanity, but to the whole of creation. All creation awaits redemption, and this is it: God's love in Christ changing the world and cosmic order in the human heart, and in the whole created order. Christ's sacrifice on the cross is therefore truly global, affecting not only the present and the future, but the past as God enters time and space, illuminating all with grace and love.

This Sunday - Debbie Returns!
|
As wind through a pinwheel, the Holy Spirit moves us all; shining, spinning, dancing with the love of God.
We will be welcoming Debbie back to Grace Church on Sunday and celebrating our mutual recommitment on her 17th anniversary with a decorated church, special service and pot luck luncheon!
It will be a BIG day of services and we'll close the day with a big put luck in Abbott Hall immediately following the 10:30am service. We hope you will attend - ALL are welcome! Please also plan to bring a dish to share - entrees, beverages, sides - all are still needed!
The 14th also marks the return of our regular service times and the first Young and the Restless Chapel service of the new academic year! As a reminder, services will be at: 8:00am, 9:00am, and 10:30am.
If you'd like to volunteer and lend assistance in advance of the 14th (for set-up and planning), please let Caroline Watson-Felt know - please feel free to e-mail her directly at: [email protected].

Thank you to all who have taken leaves from the tree in the lobby. If you have not had a chance to take one, there are still a few left. The teachers are very grateful to receive these supplies. More opportunities to be involved in this exciting partnership will be forthcoming over the next weeks and months.
