"Give them an inquiring and discerning heart"
These words prayed over the person being baptized, which is usually an infant, get me every time. During this season when many of our readings speak of faith, these words remind us that it is not a
blind faith that we seek, but a reasonable and hopeful faith, developed over time. It is not the mind we refer to either, but one's own heart is to seek and perceive the holy within themselves and in the world.
May we all continue to let our hearts discern and inquire of God's own heart, as we seek to live lives full of meaning.

"The Lord is My Shepherd"
|
The Fourth Sunday in Easter every year commemorates Jesus as "The Good Shepherd." Each year, we also chant the most familiar psalm, the 23rd. Just what does shepherding mean to us today? Come and consider the many ways Christ continues to lay down his life for us. The anthem at the morning service will be Edward Bairstow's, "I sat down under his shadow." Church School will begin at 10:30 am. Celtic Meditations, at 5:00 pm, will include prayers from Iona, Northumbria and the Episcopal Church. Healing is offered from just after the intercessory prayers throughout the remainder of the service. This week, David Ashton will offer a reflection on a personal encounter with God, and the music will include tunes from the Celtic tradition, plainsong and improvisations from Ryan and Eric. We truly want you to be with us no matter where you are on your search for meaning.
|
Come join us May 6th as we celebrate the inaugural year of the Music Academy at Grace, our after school program that is one part of our partnership with the Nathaniel Bowditch School.
From 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, all are invited to come and meet the students, see a little bit of their choir rehearsal and then stay for their craft making activity. Special guests will include The Hon. Kim Driscoll, Mayor, The Reverend Sam Rodman, Diocese of MA, and Mr. Bill Shevory, Principal of the Nathaniel Bowditch School.
Please come and share your enthusiasm for all the ways we are connecting with these wonderful kids. Your presence matters to these students.

Upcoming Degree Recital

TONIGHT!!!!

Now that the snow has cleared, we can all view the wonderful people and events remembered on the bricks that pave our patio. There are baptisms, marriages, memories of those who have died, favorite bible passages, and thanksgivings for the people in our lives. Would you like to have a brick in place to remember a special person or event in your life? We will be placing another order on Monday, May 18th. We must have at least 5 bricks to place the order. If you would like to make a $100 donation for a commemorative brick, there are order forms at the entrance of the church.
|
Each Sunday at 10:30 am from May until October, Grace Church offers a garden project for any child who is interested. They learn about creation, care of the environment, the food and agricultural needs of people in other parts of the world as well as in our own country, they grow vegetables and what they harvest, they give to a neighboring parish for their "Sunday Night Suppers" meal program to feed the hungry.
If you would like to learn more or discuss ways of supporting this project, please see Debbie, Melissa Barnes or contact the office at [email protected].
