With the academic year quickly coming to a close, plan now for graduation safety. Designated drivers are essential to every party. Supervised all-night graduation events offer safe alternatives to party-hopping. For students of legal drinking age, please learn and practice safe drinking behaviors. Communication between parents, administrators, and students can decrease potentially hazardous situations. If you are aware of unofficial graduation events involving alcohol at your school, advocate for change: encourage participation in official events, and educate students on the signs of alcohol overdose. Help ensure that every graduate makes happy memories to carry them into the next phase of their lives.

Planning Ahead for National GORDIEday
Remember Gordie During National Hazing Prevention Week in September

National GORDIEday is held annually during National Hazing Prevention Week as a way to raise awareness about alcohol overdose and encourage intervention when a friend is in distress. The 2016 National GORDIEday is September 22, 2016. While September seems far away right now, planning ahead is essential to a successful campaign. The Gordie Center offers many tools to help you host National GORDIEday in your school, community, or campus, including our 2016 Planning Guide, a teaser campaign, a PowerPoint presentation about Gordie's story, and other free resources on our website.

If you plan to host a GORDIEday event, we would love to support your efforts! We offer a 20% discount on Gordie Center products (such as our GORDIEcheck BAC cards , posters , and PUBS magnets ) for GORDIEday participants--simply register on our website to let us know you plan to participate. We love to hear about your events, so please plan to  send us pictures and recaps of your GORDIEdays

The Gordie Center participated in the University of Virginia's one-day giving campaign, GivingToHoosDay, on April 12th. Thanks to your amazing support of our mission and programs, we were able to meet our matching fund challenge, and raise over $26,000 toward our efforts at UVA and nationwide! The funds raised through this campaign are already at work in our initiatives, spreading Gordie's lifesaving message. Thank you so very much--we appreciate you!
