Virginia Commission for the Arts Opens
Technical & Organizational Development Assistance Grant Program
Beginning August 23, 2018
August 20, 2018 -- The Virginia Commission for the Arts will open Technical and Organizational Development Assistance Grants to Virginia arts organizations beginning August 23, 2018. These grants are designed to provide outside help for arts organizations to improve their management, artistic quality, or community service

Eligible Activities:
  1. Short-term consultations on particular artistic or organizational problems, with the staff of the applicant organization carrying out the resulting plan of action.
  2. Sending administrators, board members, and other authorized representatives to conferences, seminars or other professional development programs to increase sustainability and effectiveness.

Amount of Assistance:  Up to $1,000 (non-matching) per year. This limit may be waived for organizations providing a technical assistance activity for several organizations in one geographic area or for a statewide group of organizations working in the same art form

Who Can Apply?  Virginia organizations whose primary purpose is the arts (excluding units of governments, and educational institutions) and that meet the  Basic Eligibility criteria listed in the 2018-2019 Guidelines for Funding . Organizations must be incorporated in the state and have their headquarters and home seasons or activities equivalent to a home season for non-producing organizations, in the state.

Deadline: Applications are due at least  three weeks  before the proposed activity and must take place between September 15, 2018 and June 15, 2019.  IMPORTANT NOTE : Only organizations with previous year's cash income of $125,000 or less will be reviewed from August 23-September 15, 2018. All other applications will be reviewed beginning September 16, 2018, and remaining funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified organizations regardless of cash income.  The online application can be found here: http://www.arts.virginia.gov/grants.html

The Virginia Commission for the Arts supports the arts through funding from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Commission distributes grant awards to artists, arts and other not-for-profit organizations, educational institutions, educators and local governments and provides technical assistance in arts management.
