Dickson Memorial to be Dedicated
You are cordially invited to help us dedicate the Eric V. Dickson Memorial at Memorial Park in Woodland Park, Teller County, Colorado on August 25 at 11:00 am.
Lance Corporal Eric V. Dickson, a member of B. Company, First Battalion, First Marines, was killed in action near Quang Tri, Republic of Viet Nam, when he received fragmentation wounds to the body from a hostile explosion device while on patrol May 31, 1968 and is the only member of the armed forces Killed in Action in the Vietnam War from Teller County. His memorial was vandalized in the years following the Vietnam War and finally its remnants taken down and nearly forgotten. Fifty years later his surviving friends, fellow veterans, local business leaders and residents from Teller County and surrounding counties privately raised $80,000 dollars to honor Eric's sacrifice and life.
We would be honored to have your attend the unveiling ceremony. Please RSVP to Colonel (R) Dan Williams at 912.247.1258.
