Traffic Update - July 8 - July 14

Rockfall Mitigation on US 24 will begin at mile point (MP) 294 and continue to MP 301.  East and westbound motorists can expect a single lane configuration with east and westbound traffic head to head on the eastbound lane, reduced speed limits, extended
commute time for congestion in the work zone, and 11 ft. width restriction during working hours.

Bicyclists are discouraged from riding through the construction zone during hours of operations.

Work this week will consist of rock scaling, drilling, installing rock anchors and grouting.

This week the project work hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Drivers are asked to obey all speed limit reductions and construction road signs during this time.

Also showing is Jill Tarvin. She demonstrates the magnificence of nature, sunsets, and landscapes through the use of colorful pastels. Please take a few moments and visit the hospital gift shop which also showcases other locally made artwork, including greeting cards, jewelry, pottery, wooden and ceramic bowls and other gift items.

Property Owners, Residents Asked to Take Mitigation Action

CUSP Area fires highlight need for property owners to act to reduce wildfire risk on their property and neighborhoods. Although the majority of the area is outside the immediate risk area from the local fires, the dry fuels created by the prolonged area drought present an extreme wildfire hazard. The Coalition for the Upper South Platte requests that property owners and residents take specific fire mitigation action focused on the home and working outward.  Click HERE to see rest of press release.

Old Fashioned 4th a Remarkable Success

Congratulations to Karen Casey-Svetich and the North Teller County Build a Generation organization for an amazing Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration this year.  Many volunteers step up under Karen's guidance to put together an event that exemplifies a Community who Cares.  The Old Fashioned 4th is an Independence Day celebration like no other in the region. Again, thank you to everyone who made this event a resounding success.
Thank You All

Our sincere and deepest gratitude from the Chamber and Community  to  ALL the Firefighters, First Responders, Sheriff Mikesell, his wonderful team, the County Administrator and Commissioners, the hundreds of Volunteers and so many, many more who have worked tirelessly in their efforts to extinguish the High Chateau Fire and address the needs of the residents of the area.  Teller County is a community of people who care, which has been truly evident through time and donations made to assist with this disaster.  For those who lost property in this tragic fire, we send our deepest sympathy to you and know you are in all of our thoughts as you move forward to rebuild after this tragic loss.
