Free Tours of Ute Pass Historical Society History Park
Historical Society Tours begin June 3, and run every Saturday through September 2. (Excluding August 5). The walking tour of historic downtown Woodland Park begins at 10:30 am, and meets at the Museum Center, 231 E. Henrietta Avenue, W.P., next to the Woodland Park Public Library. Tour the historic buildings of History Park 11 am-1 pm. The exhibits in the buildings are constantly changing, so check them out again!  All tours are weather permitting. Engage your child's natural curiosity about nature! Penny will share a hands-on activity for kids where they will learn while having fun!

Sunday, May 14 * Hike Outlook Ridge
1 pm Meet At Outlook Ridge Trailhead
For beautiful views to the south and west, hike Outlook Ridge with Penny on this moderate 2-3 mile trek.
 
Wednesday, May 17 * Fitness Hike
9:15 am Meet at Homestead Trailhead
Get ready for a workout with Volunteer Naturalist Chris. Hike a moderate to strenuous 5-6 miles including Osborn Homestead and Geer Pond trails. Be prepared for the weather and bring a snack and water!

Thursday, May 18 * Elk Meadow Hike
9 am Meet at Elk Meadow Trailhead
Another favorite trail through meadows, aspens and conifers. You're likely to see Red-tailed Hawks or Mountain Bluebirds!
Join Penny on a gentle 2 mile hike.
 
Friday, May 19 * Murphy's Cut to Bacon Rocks Hike
9:15 am Meet at Lost Pond Trailhead
Join Nancy in a long hike of about 7 miles.  Go by features of the historic Murphy's Cut, along the fields of the agricultural history of the park, by dense aspen groves until we reach some views of the distant mountain ranges and the remains of an old prospector's cabin. Plan on about 3-3.5 hours! Dress in layers; bring plenty of water, and an energy snack.

Artists' Photo and Scouting Hike
9:30 am Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead
This is a slow-paced hike for artists, photographers, and visitors, to find locations within Mueller for the upcoming art show in July 2017. Bring water, a snack and good footwear for the conditions. 2-3 miles.
 
Saturday, May 20 * Outdoor Skills Day - 10 am - 3 pm
Don't miss the annual Outdoor Skills Day at Mueller - activities for the whole family! Activities will include: bait fishing, fly fishing, target shooting with shotguns, 22's and pellet guns, archery, camping, geocaching, Bear Aware, spelunking - climb through a simulated cave! And much more! All activities are free - vehicle park pass is required.

See and touch the furs and skulls of common mammals of the region. Learn how to identify different animals with an up close look!
 
Buffalo Rock Hike * 1:30 pm Meet at Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead
Join Naturalist Penny for this beautiful 4 mile hike through aspen and pine forest, meadows, and see Cheesman Ranch.
 
Monday, May 22 * Hike: Osborn Trail
9:00 am Meet at Homestead Trailhead
Visit the Osborn Homestead and hear what it was like to live in the old days on a 3 mile moderate hike with Naturalist Penny.
 
Friday, May 26 * Cheesman Ranch Hike
9:15 am Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead
Hike the Cheeseman Ranch loop with Nancy, to Buffalo Rock trail, past the historic remains of the ranch with views of Pike's Peak and aspen groves. 5 miles. Dress in layers; bring plenty of water, and energy snack.
 
Amphitheater: Deer and Elk - More or Less * 8 pm
We love to spot and watch deer and elk, the large mammals of our mountain forest. However, someone has to manage the population. How do the Wildlife Managers do that?  Interpretive Naturalist Russ will share the models and methods of herd management.
