So Many Reasons for Gratitude, So Many Options for Generosity
During the season of Thanksgiving, leading to the season of celebrating Christ's birth, believers relish thoughts of God's goodness. Faith-filled hearts recognize that gratitude to God for the many blessings given is important. Each blessing, whether recognized or not, gives reason to share and spread God's infinite generosity to others.
For an unbelieving heart, it is difficult to see such cause for thankfulness. However, the believer recognizes that all material, mental, physical and spiritual blessings come from God the Father of Creation. Immortality comes from the redemptive life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah. All comfort and assurance of peace comes from God's Holy Spirit. From such good news or Gospel blessings flow the myriad reasons to live in joyful gratitude. This motivates a response of generosity ... Continue Reading
October is Pastor Appreciation Month
Let's celebrate our ministry team by thanking God for their dedication and commitment at Timothy Church!  Women in Mission would like you to sign up one day to pray for Pastor Rall, Pastor Wilson, Pastor Vo, DCE Mark Thompson, Vicar Cyril Loum and the call process on the calendar in the narthex.  Let the pastors and Mark know via e-mail or tell them in person how you prayed for them.  You can also ask them for special prayer requests.  Check out the prayer idea sheet on the easel. There is no greater way to support and encourage our pastors and DCE than uplifting them in prayer.

Maker's Fall Fest
We are extending the VBS fun with Maker's Fall Fest.  Families are invited to an event filled with fun, crafts, and togetherness.  Please join us on Sunday October 29th from 12:30pm-2:30pm in the gym for this brand new event.  Families will check-in when they arrive and then rotate together through various stations around the gym.  Snacks will be available for both kids and adults.  Child participants will be limited to Pre-K through 6th grade.  Preregistration is encouraged for planning purposes.
In order to make our Maker's Fall Fest a success, we're looking for volunteers to help at the various stations.  Instructions and supplies will be provided for each station.  Volunteers will interact with the families and help the children with the activity at that station.  Volunteers will need to register at the link provided and can select which station to help out at.  Any help is appreciated.
Please contact Holly Feldman at ivyholly@hotmail.com or 314-753-1577 with any questions.  Registration for participants and volunteers is available at:

Pastor David Brighton Called to be New Senior Pastor
On Sunday, October 8, The Voters Assembly voted unanimously to call Pastor David Brighton of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Warner Robins, GA to be our new senior pastor.
Pastor Brighton graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1982.  He served two other congregations before he was called to serve as the sole pastor of Mount Calvary in 1999.  His congregation is similar in size and church attendance to Timothy.  He has a Director of Christian Outreach, part-time directors of Music and Children's Ministry, two SMP vicars and a retired chaplain who helps serve the Karenni (Burmese) immigrant community.  Mount Calvary does not have a school, but does run an after-school tutoring program.
The Call Committee unanimously recommended that the congregation call Pastor Brighton for a variety of reasons:
Relational approach to ministry
Achieves congregational consensus before moving forward with new initiatives, focusing on Connecting People to Jesus
Traditional and contemporary worship experience
Preaching style that speaks to a range of listeners
Experience with New Americans (Karenni fellowship worships separately but also together with traditional congregation)
Very energetic, plans to continue in fulltime ministry for 8-10 years
We have invited Pastor Brighton and his wife to visit Timothy in the next few weeks.  More information about that visit, which may not happen until early November, will be provided as soon as possible.  At this time, please pray for Pastor Brighton, Timothy and Mount Calvary.
Parent Sunday School Connection for week of October 22
Lesson 8 Bible Story - Hezekiah Prays - 2 Kings 18-19
This week in Sunday School
Sunday School students study the story of "Hezekiah Prays" this week. Hezekiah prayed in faith to God and was delivered. Jesus, our mediator and advocate with the Father, intercedes for us, granting us deliverance from sin, death, and the devil. Parents could ask, "Why did Hezekiah go to God in prayer? In what ways does God answer our prayers today?"
Memory Verse:
The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16
