Dear Mesa Refuge Community,

Fall is a such an extraordinary time in our garden, a time of abundance and harvest. And t he metaphor of harvest is an apt one for what happens at the Mesa Refuge.

Residents spend two weeks in this place of remarkable beauty and solitude, wrestling with the issues of social equity, disparities in our economy and threats to our environment. Months later, we receive a copy of their book and share in their excitement when they receive a great review or hit the bestseller list.

Magic happens when those books go out into the world and reach thousands of people. At our recent Open House, Stephen Sparks and Molly Parent, the new owners of Point Reyes Books, brought a bumper crop of books written by Mesa Refuge alums with them. We are so grateful for these writers and the action they take in the world.

Won't you help us offer the gifts of time and space to a new crop of thinkers, writers and creatives this harvest season?

Very best,
Susan
