In fact, their first public appearance was a flood relief benefit concert to help the victims of the Nashville flood in May 2010. In 2011 they placed in the top 5 groups (out of 250 groups) in the Regional Artist Showcase at the National Quartet Convention. In 2012. Also performing will be the Kentucky Opry Show. 7:30pm.

A portrait of the world as lensed through the works of farmer, writer and activist Wendell Berry
David Nickell is a professor of philosophy and socioloty at WKCTC.  He lives on a small family farm and is a sixth generation native of the Between the Rivers area that was forcibly removed for teh Land Between the Lakes project.  A proud environmental activist, he first became acquainted withe Wendell Berry as a fellow horse farmer.
David Polk has taught writing and literature at several colleges and universities, most recently at Eastern Kentucky University and WKCTC.  He reviews books and art exhibitions and writes about the natural world.  A student of Wendell Berry's at the University of Kentucky, he is a long-time reader and friend of Mr. Berry.  David is also a founding member of the Paducah Film Society (now the Paducah Art House Alliance).

AUG 25 - Last  Stars of Tomorrow Show & Kentucky Opry Show

This show consists young professionals pursuing a career in music and the Kenucky Opry Cast. The young Stars ages are 8 year old to 18 years old. This Stars Show is packed with Old Country Classics as well as Brand New Country. It also features Gospel, Bluegrass, and Rock and Roll hits from the 50's and 60's.
The Kentucky Opry cast will perform too. Showtime 7:30pm. Adult $16, Seniors $15, Student $10, Child $7.50.

SEPT 2-3-4 -  Labor Day Arts & Crafts
Grand Rivers, KY. 
The festival takes place at the Little Lake Park in Grand Rivers, near I-24, Exit 31.
What You Will Find
The event features original and handcrafted items from almost 100 crafters and artisans from 10 states. Examples of items for sale include floral arrangements, baskets, lawn furniture, paintings, honey, soaps, lotions, jewelry, quilts, woodwork, holiday decorations, pottery, candles, gourds, stained glass, birdhouses, rocking chairs, rocking horses, weather vanes, and much more. Visitors can also enjoy a wide variety of delicious carnival food and regional specialties while at the festival.

The cost is $1 per individual at the walk- in gate or $5 per vehicle parking inside the park.

SEPT 23 -  Archaeology Festival at Wickliffe Mounds
Wickliffe, KY. 
September is Kentucky Archaeology Month and in recognition, Wickliffe Mounds will have special demonstrations
and hands-on activities for learning about how archaeology happens, at a kid's level. Featured activities include a
mock excavation, artifact laboratory analysis, spear and atlatl throwing, bows and arrows, flint knapping, finger
weaving, make and take home a pottery craft. An Archaeology Quest for kids will be available. Event is included in

Arts in the Community Exhibition 2017
Mayfield, KY

The Icehouse Gallery in Mayfield is announcing a "Call to Artists" for this year's Arts in the Community Exhibition. I
 There is no entry fee and you need not be a member of the Art Guild to participate. Artwork may be priced for sale; the Gallery retains 30% of all sales so price your work accordingly.  Works will be received from Saturday, July 1 through Saturday, July 8. Each artist may bring up to two works and they must be framed and must have a wire or clip on the back and be ready for hanging. We will accept 2D and 3D works; photography, paintings, drawings, watercolors, literary works and sculptures are all welcome, but you will need to contact the Gallery in advance if the sculpture you plan to submit is unusually large. At the conclusion of the show, artwork must be picked up from Saturday, September 2 thru Saturday, September 9.
A reception for the exhibition will be held 5-7pm on Friday, July 14. Light refreshments will be served and the public is cordially invited to attend. The Icehouse Gallery is located at 120 North 8th Street, one block north of Broadway and the courthouse square, in Mayfield, Kentucky. Hours are 10 until 5 Tuesday through Friday and 10 until 1 on Saturday. Admission to the Gallery is always free.
