Just in time for our
Nowruz campaign, the United States Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) approved our new license to annually send up to $3 million dollars to Iran to be spent on the education of children in need.
This license authorizes Child Foundation to engage in those transactions necessary to transfer a maximum of $3 million per year to
Refah-e-Koodak (our local sister foundation in Iran), an Iranian charitable organization that provides financial and material support to underprivileged children to have access to education.
We intend use this new license to build and expand our activities in
helping deprived children to remain at school. We believe education is the doorway to a world of possibility for children living in poverty. It plays a central role to move a child beyond the stigma of poverty they face each day and gives them tools to reach his or her true and full potential. It's been estimated that for every year a child stays in school their future earning potential increases by 10 to 20 percent.
This is the largest license that the US government has ever issued to any single charity working in Iran. Receiving this new license would not have been possible without establishing a very transparent program that we have created as well as a very vigorous and detailed compliance program that we set to ensure of the lawfulness of our activities.
To celebrate this fantastic news, I encourage you to join us by sponsoring a child in need today or just donate to our Nowruz Fund.
