                          Fringe Benefits
I
n the U.S. we refer to them as  bangs,   but in the U.K. the hair falling on the forehead is called fringe . Today, fringe remains a top trend.  What type of bang is best for you?
Soft fringe cut to the bridge of the nose and slightly texturized works well for the square face shape and strong jaw line. Longer pieces on the sides create a softer elongated frame. The oval face shape looks great with a bang that  opens on one side, creating an lifting effect.
A heart shaped face is flattered with  a side-swept fringe and a low side parting. Need help styling your bangs?
When blow drying bangs, sometimes holding the dryer above, or blowing in one direction, then the opposite, can help with strong cowlicks.  Gently bending the fringe with the curling iron  gives fullness before sweeping them to the side. Ask us for ideas that flatter your face shape.
Got Roots?
Three weeks after coloring do you notice grey roots coming in? We advise  you to have your hair color done every 4-5 weeks , but sometimes the last week before your appointment there are roots popping up! Style Edit, is a spray-on root concealer with different shades to match any hair color.  This has been very popular with our clients! It gets you through that last week and washes out easily.

Beware of dry, fuzzy hair!
Hot styling tools can deplete moisture and cause breakage.
Here are a few tips for  preserving the integrity of your hair:
1. Let your hair air dry whenever possible before  styling with a blow dryer.
2. Check the speed an d heat settings on your blow dryer.  More is not always better! Reduce the heat settings  on your dryer and irons.
3. Prep your hair before styling with thermal styling protectants that combat damaging heat. We recommend either Heat Seal, Mirror Smooth Primer or Marula Oil applied to damp hair to protect your hair from hot styling tools.  Hot Off The Press or Awapuhi Shine Spr ay  applied to dry hair are what we use daily in the salon to maintain moisture balance and shine before using irons.
4. Do not use an old blow dryer or curling iron. Older appliances typically get very hot before they die,  frying your hair in the process.
5. Use only ionic blow dryers and irons that keep hair shiny and moisturized.  Paul Mitchell's  fabulous new dryer that our designers are raving about is the  Express Ion Dry+ . It cuts down drying time and leaves the hair noticeably shinier.  Who doesn't need that?!

Fettuccine With Hot Peanut Sauce

3/4c natural peanut butter            2T soy sauce
1 garlic clove, minced                   1 1/2c chicken broth
1 small onion, chopped                 1T vegetable oil
1/2t  red pepper flakes                 6c steamed broccoli
1T brown sugar                           2 julienned carrots
3T fresh lemon juice                     3/4 lb. fettuccine

Blend in food processor the peanut butter, garlic, onion, red pepper flakes and brown sugar. Add lemon juice, soy sauce, 1/4c of the broth, and blend until smooth. Pour into a saucepan and stir in remaining broth. Heat sauce over moderately low heat, stirring until it is hot. Keep warm. Steam the broccoli in the microwave until tender crisp.
In a large skillet heat the oil over moderately high heat and sautee carrots until tender. Add broccoli and stir together for one minute.  Add salt and pepper to vegetables to taste. Cook fettuccine until al dente.
In a serving bowl toss pasta, broccoli, carrots and peanut sauce.
  Serves 4-6.
This sauce is also very good poured over rice and steamed vegetables to make a Buddha Bowl.
