Praise From Our Authors

Thank you, Sondra, for your kind words!

"Thank you Linda for introducing me to such a wonderful editor. The report was perceptive, thoughtful and gave me a way for getting back into the book. I like the explicit quality of the criticism, the attention to detail and the questioning. The editor zeroed in on one of the aspects of the book that was already bothering me. This was particularly important because it allowed me to trust my own judgement when that judgement was at times at odds with itself. " Sondra Shulman, "Kaleidoscope"

9 Things Every Non-Fiction Book Proposal Needs
When you've written a book that you think could be a best-seller, there is only one thing you need to do: write a book proposal. Here is some great advice on how to make your book proposal stand out from the hundreds of other pitches agents receive every day.
  1. A catchy title and subtitle to reflect the content of your book.
  2. An irresistible book description. Take time writing your book description/synopsis, make it shine from the very first sentence. Convey what is unique and universal about your book.
  3. Pertinent info about YOU. What's your background and field of expertise? What are your notable accomplishments, literary or otherwise? Use this info to convey that you are the person to write this book.
  4. Details about your manuscript. Paint a mental picture for the agent of the finished book.
  5. A clear acknowledgement of your audience. Will your book be easy to sell, and to whom? If an agent can convince a publisher that your book meets an existing need of a particular demographic, you've increased your chances of landing a deal.
  6. A competitive analysis. What sets your book apart from similar books that are already available? Provide specifics to demonstrate that there is a ready-made market for your book.
  7. Your marketing and PR plan. How are you going to turn your book into a hit?Which online outlets you've used to build your audience, how you plan to use your platform to promote the book, etc. Don't expect the publisher to do the marketing for you!
  8. A table of contents. Provide an outline with one paragraph descriptions for each chapter.
  9. An excerpt from the book. Usually the first three chapters or samples of writing style.
