Highlights of Our Year
Langtons International Agency and Book Marketing International have had a great year! Thank you to all who have supported us during 2014!

This year has been full of achievements! We have sold nine books to the commercial publishers, including a trilogy to a major international publisher (soon to be announced), and two business books to Bibliomotion Publishing. The English version of Israeli best-selling author Avi Shilon's biography, Ben-Gurion: Epilogue, was sold to Rowman & Littlefield, as well as Dan Rottenberg's biography, The Outsider, to Temple University Press, and Maj. Gen. Henry Dozier Russell's The Purge of the Thirtieth Division, edited by our multi-published author Dr. Lawrence Kaplan, to Naval Institute Press.
Dancing on Her Grave (Berkley Books) a true crime book by Diana Montane and Carolina Sarassa will be published in April 2015 and featured on Discovery Channel's Deadly Sins.
We designed and produced Robert Pigott self-published book, New York's Legal Landmarks, this year and the fascinating My Isl@m by Amir Ahmad Nasr (St. Martin's Press, 2013) has been translated into Hungarian and published by Atlantic Press Kiado'.

We are incredibly proud of the success of our authors, and we look forward to an even better year going forward!

We are thrilled to welcome our nineteen new talented authors (in alphabetical order):
Cheryl Benton, Ann-Margaret Carrozza, Felice Cohen, Leanne DiStasi, Martin Duffy, Noel and Phyllis Fiarotta, Dr. Marc Galanter, Toddi Gutner, Karl Hanover, Jason Huza, Riaz Ilahi, Gillian Lin, Bonnie MacBird, Gloria Montero, Bruce Rosen, Carolina Sarassa, Jakki Sidney, and Dr. Patty Ann Tublin to Langtons International Agency.

And also to welcome to our list of editors Stewart, Martin, Amy, Steven, and Julia to Book Marketing International.
Use Your Holiday Vacation to Work on Your Book!

Let this time be an inspiration to move forward with your book. Whether it's a novel for the commercial publishers, a business book or a memoir for self-publishing, this is a great opportunity to take your project to the next stage. Let us help you with some simple editing and publishing tips.

Editing Tip: Are Your Adverbs Telling, Not Showing?

One of the things we always tell our authors when reviewing their manuscripts is make sure your book "shows" the reader your story instead of "telling" it. An easy way to help fix this problem is to get rid of adverbs.

Here is an example of what exchanging your adverbs for action could look like:

She flung her arms around her sister, almost knocking her to the ground. "I'm getting married!"

-------instead of--------

"I'm getting married!" she said excitedly.

Consider the Avenue of Self-Publishing For Your Book

The self-publishing industry has grown exponentially over the last few years. But what makes the choice to self-publish the right one for you?

1. If your book is too narrow in interest for commercial publishing.

2. If you have a specific, limited, or niche market that you know exactly how to reach.

3. If you need to get your book into the market quickly--self-publishing can be completed in as little as two weeks, whereas commercial publishing can take up to nine months.

4. The ability to choose your front cover and layout of your book.

5. You keep 100% of the royalties.

Whether you self-publish or commercially publish your book, you must build your own platform to gather followers and readers and be prepared to market your book yourself.
