Here are a few reminders:
1. Please leave your dogs at home when visiting Green Acres. It has been a long standing rule here at GA that only resident dogs may be allowed on the premises. This rule is for your dogs safety as well as the safety of fellow boarders, clients, and horses. If we see your dog on our property you will be asked to remove them.

2. While here on the ranch, please park your vehicles in the parking lot.  Please do not park any vehicles at your horses stall or barn.   If you are delivering feed or heavy items, drop them off and then return your vehicle to the parking lot.
3. Please be mindful of activities going on while delivering items to your stall.  Horses always have the right away.   If there is an activity in front or near where you need to drop something off, please wait till it is over or return later.

4.  Please do not put shavings in your horse's stall or pen! Regular shavings tend to blow away, and are to difficult for our maintenance staff to properly clean. INSTEAD, use pelleted shavings which work GREAT and allow our staff to properly care for y our horses needs!

Check your spam folder if you are not receiving your monthly invoice.

Boarders will receive a monthly invoice from Green Acres via EMAIL. If you do not see it, check your spam folder and add "" to your contact list.

And don't forget, please observe our speed limits  and  always yield to horses.  GA courtesy allows for the vehicles driving UP the drive way to have  the right of way .

5 MPH Speed Limit  = No Dust!
Thank you for your help to keep Green Acres
a safe place for everyone to enjoy!

Correct Haltering Procedure
 1.  As you approach your horse to halter him, make sure the halter is unbuckled and the lead rope is attached.
2.  Stand on the left side of the horse and pass the end of the lead rope under his neck with your left hand.
3.  Put your right hand over his neck and take the lead rope from your left hand.
4  Now you have the rope around his neck. Catch both ends of rope together in your right hand so he can't wander off while you put the halter on.
5.  Position the loop so you can pass the halter strap to your right hand in the same way you did with the rope.
6.   At this point you should have both the rope and the halter strap in your left hand,  with your arm over the horse's neck and the halter buckle in your right hand.
7.   With your hands on either side of the horse's head, position the noseband so the horse's nose will slide easily into it and raise the halter into position.
8.   Bring the halter strap over the horse's head, right behind his ears and do up the buckle, keeping hold of the rope just in case he decided to break away before you have finished.
9. Remove the loop of rope from around the horse's neck and you are ready to go.

1.  Make sure your halter fits properly and is neither too loose nor too tight.

2.  The noseband should lie two fingers below the cheekbone and you should be able to fit two fingers between your horse and the noseband.

Green  Acres Ranch 2017 CALENDAR

Only $12.50 each

Call the office today for more information about how you can get your hands on one!
If you do not already have a salt block
in your horse's stall...NOW IS THE TIME!
Horses do require about 1-2 ounces of salt per day to help meet their requirement for sodium and chloride. This requirement can increase to 4-6 ounces of salt per day in hot climates or under exercise where losses in sweat increase greatly.  Inadequate salt in the diet can result in abnormal eating behavior such as licking or chewing objects which have salt on them (fork handles etc.) or licking/eating dirt.  Water intake may also decrease, increasing the risk of impaction colic. In more extreme cases, horses will stop eating and may experience muscle incoordination."
Attention: All Milk Drinkers
Please save your milk, half & half, and juice  quart cartons! We are collecting them for paper mache camp projects. Next time you are at the ranch, please bring your 1 quart empty milk cartons to the office.   Please bring all that you can spare.
