The Saint hosts New Year's Eve with Waiting on Mongo, the Asbury Park Music Awards' Top Jam Band of 2016. Jam and groove into 2017 with additional guests Gallagher's Guest and House. The night includes a food buffet, free champagne toast at midnight, and more. Doors open at 8 pm and cover is $10. For $30 you can enjoy the open bar from 9 pm to 11:30 pm More info here

Ring in the New Year with the Asbury Festhalle ball drop, with a night including a vintage champagne tower and toast, grill open late, fortune tellers to give you guidance on what the new year will bring, hand-rolled cigars on the rooftop, and music by the fabulous and funky Des and the Swagmatics. The Festhalle also hosts a Family New Year's Celebration at 4pm, which includes live music, activities for kids, a complimentary champagne toast, and a 6 pm celebration of the coming of the new year, on German time. The Stone Pony takes you back as we move forward into a new year, with Another 90's New Years Eve, presented by Dark City Entertainment, with your favorite local bands performing as your favorite 90s bands. The lineup includes GayGuy/StraightGuy as Weezer, Lost in Society as Bush, Dentist as the Cranberries, Wicked Hollow as Pearl Jam, Wyland as Oasis, and the Black Clouds as Nirvana. Plus DJ Mathew Uychich from the Front Bottoms as special guest tune-spinner. Doors open at 8 pm, and tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. More info here

Tim McLoone's Supper Club presents New Year's Eve with Tim McLoone and the Shirleys, featuring Barbara Kind. Enjoy the live tunes, a four-course dinner, champagne, dancing, and a live viewing of the ball dropping in NYC. Tickets start at $110 and doors open at 9 pm, more info here

House of Independents presents a NYE NYC Underground Classics party, featuring a marathon set by Louie DeVito. Doors open at 9 pm and the tunes spin until 4 am, tickets are $30 in advance and $35 day of. More info here

DJ Tyler Valentine spins 2016 away at the Asbury Park Yacht Club with a multi-decade, multi-genre celebration from 10 pm to 2 am. No cover, more info here

Start your new year in Paradise, with a New Year's Eve party lasting until the bar finally closes at 5 am. The night also includes tnues by Rico Alexis, special light show, hors d'oeuvres, champagne toast, open bar from 10 pm to 11 pm, and a hot breakfast buffet at 1 am. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door, more info here

Georgie's New Year's Eve bash includes music by CJ Tall Speedy, free champagne toast, free hats and noise makers, the kitchen open until midnight, a free breakfast buffet at 1 am, and more. Cover is $5 after 9 pm. More info here

Porta hosts Big Pat's New Year's Eve Bash, featuring DJ Za, Dj Jel, DJ Carter Mars, and DJ Funsize from 9 pm to 3 am. No cover from 9 pm to midnight, and $5 cover from midnight to 3 am. More info here

Celebrate New Year's Eve without that spilled champagne stickiness on the Ocean Grove border at the QSpot LGBT Community Center, hosting an alcohol-free New Year's Dance at 9 pm. A donation of $10 is suggested. More info here

SOLD OUT: Black Tie MasqueradeSoul Pop New Year's Eve with Remember Jones, New Year's Day Pajama Brunch

Don't waste any time on those resolutions! The Asbury Festhalle hosts a Novorocny Run on January 1 at noon, a European-style 5k run. Registration includes a t-shirt for the first 250 participants, a free beer or mulled wine, and authentic German snacks. A portion of the proceeds go to local charities, and registration is $30. Polar Bear Plunge at Convention Hall

The Sons of Ireland Polar Bear Plunge returns to Asbury Park on January 1, so you can start your year off right! Because how could 2017 be bad when you begin it with embracing the freezing Atlantic? Convention Hall doors open at 10 a.m., and Kul d'Sak performs until 12:30 pm. The plunge itself is at 1 pm, followed by an afterparty jam session with Brian Kirk and the Jirks. More info here

It's not your grandma's bingo night. Or maybe it is! The Bond Street Complex hosts Sex Toy Bingo on January 4 at 8 pm, hosted by Cucumber Weir. Get a card, have some fun, maybe win a conversation starter to take home with you! More info here

Yoga Flow at Watermark

Uncorked Wine Inspired Creations hosts paint and sips and open studios for any level of artistic talent and ambition, but mostly for those who want to make a little art and have a lot of fun! See their full schedule and list of themed paint and sips and special events here

Come set your intention for 2017 with a New Year's Day yoga flow at Watermark, a benefit class for Mary's Place by the Sea. Doors open at noon, and the class is followed by a champagne reception. Cost is $25, more info here

Spirit Cove LLC hosts Runes for Beginners on January 5, an introductory look at the ancient symbols, what they stand for, and how to harness their power. The workshop starts at 7 pm and is $40, more info here
 
Parlor Gallery: "Wooden Walls Art" see more from the incredible artists behind the Wooden Walls Public Art Project on the Asbury Park Boardwalk (and see them from the warmth of inside the gallery) with this group exhibit. Includes art by Rubin 415, Mike Shine, Porkchop, RC Hagans, Danny Clinch, Bradley Hoffer, Dylan Egon, Michela Martello, Lauren Napolitano, James Vance, and Pau Quintanajornet. The exhibit runs through February 12. More info here

art629: "Beauty through Radiation," black light art by Joe Harvard, with additional work by Mark Davis. A longtime Asbury-based artist and musician, this is Harvard's first gallery showing. The exhibit runs through January 16. More info here

Hotel Tides: "Abandoned," a solo photography exhibition of once-loved objects and once-inhabited buildings by Ellen Martin. The exhibit runs through January 15. More info here

Heaven Gallery: "Coastal Inspirations," a group exhibition featuring work by over 25 artists, curated by Beverly and Michael Miller. The exhibit runs through January 7. More info here.

Light of Day Winterfest returns to Asbury Park on the weekend of January 14, with city-wide music events and more to help raise funds and awareness to combat Parkinson's Disease. Maybe you couldn't score tickets to the big concert in the Paramount Theater (those are pretty definitely sold out), but there are still a ton of musical events and more planned for around Asbury.
