SPECIAL EVENTS

The Stone Pony hosts the 24th Annual Asbury Music Awards  on December 8, starting at 6 pm. Hosted by comedian Taylor Allen, the ceremony includes performances by Predator Dub Assassions, Daughter Vision, Cranston Dean Band, gods, Seaside Caves, Mark Brunetti, the Shady Street Show Band, the Vansaders, Colossal Strete Jam, Waiting on Mongo, Francis Lombardi, and Corrina Corrina. Plus the 40+ awards presented to Asbury's musical trailblazers, talents, and legends. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, more info here

Join us for the annual Kwanzaa Celebration at the Senior Center on December 10 at 2 pm, an event including giveaways, entertainment, music, and honors presented to those who have exemplified the spirit of Kwanzaa throughout the year. 

Come by for the first ever Springwood Park tree lighting ceremony on December 10 at 5 pm, for a celebration including holiday treats, live music by the Lakehouse Kids and the Good Hope Baptist Men's Choir, snacks and drinks, and a special appearance by Santa himself. 


On December 11 come join the  Snowflake Treasure Hunt for kids and families. Participants will draw a numbered snowflake from Fitness Lifestyles, then search out the local merchant who has that numbered snowflake on their door. Find it, go inside, and win a holiday treasure! The hunt runs from 1 pm to 4 pm, more info here. 
THEATER, COMEDY, WRITING, AND MORE

Konscious Youth Development and Service celebrates two years of uplifting music and art with the One Mic One Soul: Two Year Anniversary on December 10. For two years the group and those attending these open mics have striven to bring balance to their community, elevating and expanding to new milestones. One Mic One Soul includes conscious poetry, inspirational music, positive rapping, comedians, dancers, and awakening information. Doors open at 5 pm, the event begins with a mindful meditation at 5:15 pm, and the show starts at 6:15 pm. Thhe night includes free apples, granola bars, and smoothies from Dean's Natural Food Market, plus door prizes and giveaways. More info here

Comedian Don Jamieson of VH1's "That Metal Show" and more comes by the Wonder Bar on December 10. The standup comedian has been heaped with praise by Rolling Stone (named one of the 50 Best Reasons to Watch TV) and the Village Voice (called a "carcastic, caustic rib-splitter who can wind up any audience and splatter them hysterically). CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND FITNESS

Capture Convention Hall in all its holiday finery with a holiday paint and sip in the Grand Arcade on December 8 and December 15, led by instructor Megan Jacobson. Paint your take on the three-story tree, sip on something nice, and enjoy! Both sessions start at 6:30 pm and are $20, more info here


Uncorked Wine Inspired Creations hosts paint and sips and open studios for any level of artistic talent and ambition, but mostly for those who want to make a little art and have a little fun! Capture the beauty of the Northern Lights with a themed paint and sip on December 9, starting at 7 pm. And paint your pet on December 14, in a fundraiser for the Monmouth County SPCA. The Community Affairs and Resource Center presents the twice-monthly father empowerment group on December 13, at 6:30 pm. The group-guided discussion will focus on the challenges of fatherhood, concerns about parenting children of all ages, and more. More info here

gingerbread cookie workshop at the Asbury Festhalle

Create some Christmas cookie staples with the gingerbread cookie workshop at the Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten on December 10. Hosted by cookie maestro Dani B, you'll ice four different cookies and learn some decorating tricks of the trade. The class starts at 11 am. More info here

The Market in Convention Hall hosts a  Darlene Tea Shoppe cookie pop-up on December 10, featuring delectable meringue cookies in a variety of flavors. The pop-up shop (or shoppe) runs from noon to 3 pm, more info  here


Enjoy some spirits as you enjoy some spirits, with the Asbury Park Haunted Pub Tour on December 15. Led by Paranormal Books and Curiosities, the tour walks you through Asbury Park's haunted history, with stops at the most haunted purveyors of booze. The tour starts at 7 pm and tickets are $20. Drinks are not included, but there are drink specials for attendees. More info here

Cardinal Provisions hosts a Spanish pop-up dinner on December 16 and 17, featuring the tastes of Spain including paella, tapas, BYOB sangria, and more. More info here

Hotel Tides: the NO. STARVING ARTISTS auction is on December 11 from 3 pm to 5 pm, featuring works up for auction by eighteen established and award-winning New Jersey artists, presenting some of their earlier work. Viewing starts at 2 pm, and the fast-paced bidding starts at 3 pm. More info here

Paramount Theater: Everett Bradley aka Papadelic returns to Asbury for Holideliic, the 15-year ever-evolving celebration of diversity and "dysfunktion," ending the year with some funky bump and groove. Bradley is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, dancer, and E Street Band percussionist and singer, who has worked with Bruce Springsteen, Carly Simon, Bobby McFerrin, David Bowie, Jon Bon Jovi, and more. DANCING AND NIGHTLIFE

House of Independents : On December 9 Emo Night Brooklyn returns to Asbury Park, with all the Hot Topic-approved tunes your emo loving heart desires. Doors open at 9 pm, and cover is $10. On December 15 become the rock star frontman you always knew you could be at Live Band Karaoke with the Golden Boyz. Doors open at 8 pm. 

Georgie's"the Gay 'Cheers' of Asbury Park," with pool, beer pong, Go-Go boys, karaoke extravaganzas on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Lady Marisa's Glitter and Glam show every Thursday, twice weekly free food buffet, Ladies Nights the first Friday of every month, Sunday Funday football drink specials and buffet, and s pecial events every night of the week.

Asbury Park Bazaar at Convention Hall

The Asbury Park Holiday Bazaar returns to Convention Hall every Saturday and Sunday through December 18, from noon to 5 pm. This curated market is full of 24 local and regional vendors selling their handmade works and artisan goods, as well as clothes, jewelry, home goods, vintage finds, art and photography, and more. Plus live music and special performances, festive drinks and snacks, live art with Maggie Brown, workshops at the Market, and much much more. All the info here

Asbury Fresh Winter Market hits the brand-new Junction Hall on Main Street for this festive gift-giving season. They're creating a holiday village full of Asbury Fresh vendors selling everything from jewelry to cookies to soap to home goods. The market runs Saturdays through December 17 from noon to 5 pm, and includes food available from Nettuno Truck, beverages from High Voltage Cafe, live music, a toy drive, arts and crafts for kids, pictures with Santa, and more. The Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten turns their rooftop into a European holiday market with their  Weihnachtsmarkt on weekends through December 24, from noon to 7 pm. The market includes 30 curated vendors, with artisanal gifts, specialty foods, handcrafted toys, and more. More info  here.
