 Unpack & Unwind

No matter how you like to vacation, there is a lodging property for you in the Burke Area.  Hotels, cottages, inns and barns...we've got it all!

Bringing the whole gang for some fun on the trails?  Burke Property Rentals offers gorgeous accommodations with over 2,000 square feet of space and room for groups of up to twelve.  Enjoy direct access to the Bike Park and Kingdom Trails, on site bike wash and storage, a full kitchen, laundry room and many more amenities.

GNS Properties, located just beyond East Burke Village, offers a log cabin experience with modern luxuries. These beautiful cabins feature full kitchens, WiFi, multiple bedrooms, loft spaces, backyard grills, and even outdoor showers (indoor ones, too!).

If you prefer to stay lakeside, check out Lake View Cabins on Crystal Lake in nearby Barton.  One and two bedroom cabins offer fully equipped kitchens, dining/living room areas and stunning water views.  On-site are picnic areas, lawn games and a private beach with a rowboat, canoe and paddleboat for guests to borrow.

St. Johnsbury is just a short drive from Burke and offers a lively arts scene and the must-visit, Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium.  The Comfort Inn & Suites Near Burke Mountain offers a great location close to all the fun and a range of options including family suites, honeymoon sites and pet-friendly rooms.
   Adventure of the Month

Try something different this summer!   Experience the Great Outdoors and get into the woods via an ATV, or all terrain vehicle.  Scenic, guided tours are available from NEK Adventures during summer months.  Tours include ATV, helmet and a professional guide.   This is an unforgettable experience that will definitely give you something to talk about long after you hop off the trails!
Independent Spirits

Vermontahs are known for being fiercely independent so this month let's give a nod to those farmers, artists and the many folks who veer off the beaten path.

While in the area, definitely stop in to Sanderson's Wooden Bowls, located just outside of East Burke Village.  Sam & Weeza are self-taught artisans, living & working in the home where Sam was born.  They create hand-turned bowls using hardwoods from the property and are also photographers with some of the subjects being the donkeys and critters that live on their farm.

Local painter, Chuck Guest, showcases his work at his flooring shop on the edge of East Burke Village.  His abstract paintings are done on stretchers made from reclaimed Vermont woods and his images reflect a respect & admiration for nature and the ocean.  His work has won awards locally and throughout New England.

For some amazingly creative lighting choices, check out High Beams, located in nearby Sutton.   Trenny & Rob design unique lamps and lighting using materials such as copper, brass and mica. The intricate designs often feature botanicals and leaves.

The Burke Area offers many unique, rustic and unchanged scenes, landscapes and structures.  We are also home to many local shutterbugs with an eye for capturing the beauty on film.  One such photographer is Karen Zaun Kennedy whose work can be found online via Sweetwater Studios.

A visit to the Northeast Kingdom Country Store in East Burke is a great way to view & purchase a range of local arts & crafts.  It's a step back in time, complete with penny candy and lots of locally produced specialty foods on the shelves.  Head upstairs and you'll find local photography, hand-knit items, hand-made wooden creations and much more.

The Lyndon Farmers' Market is another great all-in-one stop to meet & purchase foods from local farmers and works from local artists while enjoying the sounds of local music in the park.  The Market is every Friday from 3-6pm in Bandstand Park.

Of course, some art is meant to be fleeting. Check out our Events Calendar for live music shows and other performing arts shows in the area.
