United Methodists help, struggle amid wildfires
California Wildfires

First United Methodist Church of Santa Rosa, California, was always a church that helped others in need. After wildfires tore through Santa Rosa on Oct. 9, many in the church were homeless and relying on the help of others.

Despite the damage to homes of members, the church still opened its doors as a shelter.  Read more .

2 Ways You Can Help

*Pray
Let us keep all of the disaster victims in our prayers. Also, remember to hold in prayer the continued health of rescue teams, all who are helping with recovery, and those churches in California, Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana that serve as shelters and outreach.

*Donate through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
Click here  to make an online donation at the UMCOR site. You can donate to either United States Disaster Response Advance #901670 or Material Resources Advance #901440. Please include your church name when you make a donation online. 100% of donations to UMCOR goes to relief work.
Donate Your Old Glasses
GUMP Lobby

We now have a collection basket in the GUMP lobby for old prescription eyeglasses. Donated eyeglasses are given to a local Lions Club. In addition to the many causes that the club supports, " sight is one of Lions defining causes.   Lions have worked on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve  eye health  and eye care for hundreds of millions of people worldwide."
