The Virginia United Methodist Church will hold its Annual Conference in Roanoke, VA this week-end. Please be in prayer for Pastor Melody and her family, and Russell Evett while they attend the conference.

Health Kits

Thank you to the Ghent UMC community for their
generous donations given to help purchase Health Kit supplies!
36 Health Kits were lovingly assembled by the Laubach Circle and sent with Pastor Melody and Russ Evett to the Virginia Annual Conference this week, along with a $196.79 donation to UMCOR to help purchase toothpaste and pay for shipping for the kits, and to help fund additional kits. T
he kits will be
distributed by UMCOR to
people displaced by natural disasters and human conflicts.

Meeting Schedule
- Since this Sunday is Father's Day, there will be no youth group at Ghent UMC. Youth are welcome to attend Beacon Youth at Larchmont from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a game night.
- We will have a regularly scheduled youth group meeting on next Sunday, June 26, at 6 p.m. in our fellowship hall.

Special Music
Worship
On Sundays, June 26 and July 3, we will have special music during worship at Ghent UMC.
On June 26, Emily Charleton will share her gift of vocal music with us. Emily is a
Ghent UMC member who currently lives in Hawaii. She is a
professional
mezzo-soprano, and formerly the lead vocalist for the US Navy band.
On July 4, Jim Bliss will share his gift of trumpet music with us. Jim last inspired us on Easter Sunday. Jim is the chair of the Department of Psychology at Old Dominion University, and last year received his B.M. in Trumpet Performance from ODU.

Vacation Bible School
Cave Quest
Bring your kids to Vacation Bible School and ground them in the rock-solid foundation of God's love, a love that takes us through life's dark times. This summer's VBS is Mon., Jul. 25, through Fri., Jul. 29, 9 a.m. to noon, snack provided.
We welcome preschool age children (ages 3 to 5 who are potty-trained) and elementary age children, from rising kindergartners through rising 5th graders. The cost is free, however, donations are gratefully accepted.

Our area is considered high risk by the CDC for the Zika Virus. Currently there are only 20 confirmed cases in Virginia, however we need to be vigilant to keep this number low.
