Need Some Green in Your Life? We've Got You Covered.
Despite what your thermometer may be telling you, we’re fully in the throes of spring. As you’re getting your garden plots ready, mark your calendars for our Thyme for Kids Plant Sale on April 27 and 28.

This annual sale features a variety of plants, flowers and herbs grown with love by the children in our horticultural therapy program. Open to the public and free to attend, most plants only cost between $2-$8.

Proceeds from the sale support our horticultural therapy program, which gives youth the opportunity to spend time in a greenhouse and garden nurturing living plants. Through this program, they not only gain work experience, but also feel a sense of accomplishment as they watch their plants flourish and can draw correlations to their own lives.

Learn more about the Thyme for Kids Plant Sale and our horticultural therapy program in the latest episode of our podcast.
Success in the Classroom

Our  Behavior Intervention Support Team (BIST) helps educators, students and parents gracefully confront unhealthy behaviors in the classroom and at home. Developed in 1990, it has been implemented in schools across the country, reducing disciplinary actions and school suspensions, while helping kids to stay engaged and present at school.

Guest bloggers from Santa Fe Elementary in Waverly, Mo., recently shared one of their successes with our BIST program.
Vicarious Trauma Can Be a Vicious Cycle

Trauma comes in many forms — not only do we experience it directly, but we can take on the trauma of others. Vicarious trauma can result from repeated empathetic engagement with traumatized individuals and their reports of traumatic experiences. It can be emotionally exhausting and, if left unchecked, our emotions can take control, leading to unhealthy behavior and negative interactions with others.

One way to combat vicarious trauma — and even just stress that comes from living day-to-day — is to create a safety plan. Making your own safety plan is easy, and can play a huge role in maintaining emotional health and keeping peace in relationships.
