We're planning for a very summery weekend around the shop. It will show in our tasting lineups and in our sunny dispositions. The warm weather has brought another slew of winemakers through this neck of the woods, showing off the fruit of their vines; so our staff should be full of excited utterances of vintages that have recently passed their lips. Please stop in and allow us to share these with you in person.

New Arrivals & Deals

Whites*********************************************************

Badenhorst "Curator" White 2015, $9.99
"Pale, bright yellow. Dusty, slightly high-toned aromas of lemon zest, lime oil, green tropical fruits and spices. Surprisingly glyceral and smooth but classically dry on the palate, displaying a tactile quality to its ripe stone fruit and honey flavors. Broad, rich and satisfying for this price range. Offers good energy in an easy-drinking style, finishing with a lightly dusty phenolic quality." 88pts V

Chehalem "3 Vineyard" Pinot Gris 2015, Willamette Valley, OR, $24.99
"A pure expression of pear, apple and peach fruit with hints of baking spices. Consistently one of the better examples of this variety in Oregon." DM

Poseidon's Vineyard Chardonnay "Estate" 2015, Carneros, CA, $27.99
"The great value in the group is the 2015 Chardonnay Estate of which there are 3,150 cases. It is a beauty. About 40% new oak is used and the wine is concentrated, offering up notes of white peach, honeysuckle, brioche and apple blossom. It is fresh, extroverted, medium to full-bodied with good acidity and purity. Drink it over the next 3-4 years." 92pts WA

Sixto Chardonnay "Uncovered" 2013, WA, $39.99
"Sleek and expressive, showing restraint as the pear, floral and mineral flavors glide against fine acidity. The finish lingers harmoniously." 93pts WS

Sixto Chardonnay "Uncovered" 2012, WA, $39.99
"A blend from Frenchman Hills, Moxee and Roza Hills Vineyards, the 2012 Chardonnay Uncovered was brought up all in neutral French oak and spent 15 months on lees priorto bottling. It's a gorgeous Chardonnay that offers lots of apple, white flowers and toasty notes to go with a ripe, rounded, sexy style on the palate. One of the more layered and ripe efforts here, it still stays fresh and lively, with plenty of zip and cut on the finish." 92pts WA

Catena Alta Chardonnay 2014, Mendoza, Argentina, Reg. $39.99, Sale $29.99
"A white with dense fruit, yet fresh and lively. Full body, dried apple and mango. Tangy finish. Lively acidity. 80% of the grapes comes from Uco and the rest from Agrelo and Lunlunta." 94pts James Suckling, also 91pts WA

Pfeffingen Dry Riesling 2013, Pfalz, Germany, $17.99
"This is a perfect summer quaffer, with tangy lime and apple fruit and touches of flint and salinity. Dry enough for seafood, but it shows enough balance to be enjoyable by itself." -DM

Pfeffingen Dry Scheurebe 2013, Pfalz, Germany, $22.99
"I sat down to lunch at the wonderful Heirloom Restaurant in St. Paul with a glass of this and a super fresh salad, featuring dill as part of the dressing. One sip of this wine with the salad made the previously-subtle dill absolutely sing. My point being, if you're a chef and looking for something new and different to accentuate your new creation, this just might be the ticket." DM

Rose***********************************************************
We've had over a dozen new 2016s land this week, pushing us well over the century mark. We'll have a bunch open Saturday!

Reds***********************************************************

Quinta de Cabriz Dao "Colheita Seleccionada" 2014, Portugal, $11.99
"A crisp and minerally red, with concentrated flavors of dark cherry, roasted plum and dried raspberry, layered with rich, spicy notes. White chocolate details show on the finish, accented by hints of pepper. Drink now through 2020." 90pts & Top 100 Wines of 2016 -WS

Espelt Garnacha Old Vines 2015, Emporda, Spain, $12.99
"So much wine for the money - this was made with the help of Frenchman Jean-Marc Lafage of Domaine Lafage. Hundred year old vines contribute intese red and black fruits and garrigue. Some new oak rounds it out and makes it feel 'modern.' Throw some meat on the grill and pop the cork on this super-affordable gem." DM

Lafage "Narassa" 2014, Roussillon, France, $18.99
"From one of the warmest sites in France, the 2014 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Lieu Dit La Narassa comes from 70-year-old vines planted in the black schist soils of Maury. Despite the rugged, hot terroir from where this beauty comes, the wine is pure silk and elegant, with lots of black raspberry, chocolate covered currants, pepper and olive notes giving way to a full-bodied 2014; it has polished tannin and a seamless texture. A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah that was aged mostly in concrete tank (20% in demi-muids), drink it anytime over the coming 4-5 years." 93pts WA, **only 6 bottles remaining for the vintage!

Poseidon's Vineyard Pinot Noir "Estate" 2014, Carneros, CA, $32.99
"Aromas like cinnamon, cedar and sweet cherries lead to concentrated, lively flavors with tangy cherry and rhubarb notes. Relatively full bodied, the wine has a smooth, mouthfilling texture and a lingering finish that echoes the delicious fruit elements." 90pts WE

Willakenzie Pinot Noir "Gisele" 2012, Yamhill-Carlton, OR, $29.99
"Relatively light in structure, with fine tannins around a glowing core of cherry, cinnamon and cream flavors, persisting into a long, vivid finish. Best from 2016 through 2020." 90pts WS

Catena Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Mendoza, Argentina, $22.99
"(from vines planted in 1973; cropped at one cluster per shoot): Bright, dark red. Ripe yet cool aromas of cassis, licorice and menthol. Supple, spicy and slightly medicinal; in a rather Old World style for a Catena wine but still with lovely fruit sweetness. The deep clay soil stayed cool in 2014 but the fruit was not affected by rot, according to Vigil. Began a bit clenched, with the acids and tannins out of sync, but harmonized nicely as it opened in the glass." 90pts V

Marietta Syrah "Gibson Block" 2014, McDowell Valley, CA, $39.99
"The 2014 Estate Syrah Gibson Block, a Syrah-based field blend, exudes depth and concentration. Black cherry, blackberry, cloves, leather and licorice give the wine its inner sweetness and textural richness, but there is also plenty of aromatic freshness and lift. Violet, camphor, savory herb and scorched earth give the wine a real sense of gravitas." 93pts V
