Classical guitarist Jason Vieaux wraps up his 2015-16 season this spring at the California Symphony, Seattle Classic Guitar Society, and Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival; and continues performances across the country with newly announced dates this summer.

Recent highlights include Jason's return to the Symphony in C in February, about which The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, "This terrific guitarist, a Philadelphia favorite, worked wonders with Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez... In place of flamenco-fied fire, he played with elegance and fine-tuned precision." In April, Jason received a glowing review for his concert at Allegro Guitar Society of Dallas by Theatre Jones , which wrote, "on a scale of 1 to 10, Vieaux is an 11 ... Vieaux made it all look easy. He made us feel like we could play these selections with a little practice, when nothing could be further from the truth." Last week, Jason returned to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for its New Music series, where he performed Vivian Fung's Twist for violin and guitar with violinist Kristin Lee, who he premiered the piece with in 2014. The concert was reviewed by New York Classical Review.

Watch  For Prince , an impromptu arrangement by Jason Vieaux
Jason recently created an impromptu arrangement for classical guitar immediately following the untimely death of music star Prince. Jason wrote the tribute in his head while on his way to the Curtis Institute of Music, and recorded the video in his hotel room once he finished teaching lessons. The medley features material from The Beautiful Ones, Take Me With U, Computer Blue, Raspberry Beret, and Purple Rain.

This weekend, Jason will give the world premiere Dan Visconti's
Living Language for guitar and orchestra with the California Symphony under conductor Donato Cabrera in two performances: May 6 at Napa Valley Performing Arts Center and May 8 at Lesher Center for the Performing Arts. Commissioned by the California Symphony, Living Language follows Visconti's Devil's Strum , a blues-infused work for solo guitar that he wrote for Jason in 2010. Jason has performed Devil's Strum widely and recorded it for this program of New Sounds . Later this month, Jason will perform at Seattle Classic Guitar Society on May 14 before finishing the 2015-16 season in his hometown at the Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival on June 3.

Jason's summer concert season will begin June 20 at the Guitar Foundation of America's Convention and Symposium in Denver, CO. Jason also holds faculty positions at two summer guitar programs: the East Carolina University Summer Guitar Workshop, July 6-9, and the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, July 16-30. During his time at East Carolina University Summer Guitar Workshop, Jason will perform in a concert with the Akerman-Teixeira Duo on July 7. During the Eastern Music Festival Guitar Program, where Jason will teach with classical guitarists Julian Gray and Kami Rowan, Jason will perform with the Eastern Festival Orchestra in Rodrigo's Fantasia para un Gentilhombre on July 16. He will also perform in Boccherini's Guitar Quintet in D major, G. 448 at the festival's Faculty Chamber Series on July 25. On July 27, Jason, Julian Gray, and Kami Rowan will give their final performance at the festival for the EMF Guitar Summit. The Eastern Music Festival Guitar Program is still accepting applications for a few remaining slots.

Other concerts this summer include the Kingston Chamber Music Festival on July 22 and 24, where Jason will perform in works by Paganini, Manuel De Falla, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco; and the Ravinia Festival on September 2, where Jason will be joined by internationally acclaimed harpist Yolanda Kondonassis for works off their duo album Together , released in 2015 on Azica Records.
