We have heavy hearts this week as we learn about the tragedy in Vegas and the continued struggle in Puerto Rico, Texas and Florida in recovering from massive destruction in lots of forms.
We will be processing this at Guys/Girls night on Wednesday and we also hope that at any/all our youth events students feel safe and free to ask the hard questions about topics that matter to them. We don't shy away from conversations about justice, faith, grieving and tragedy and we really believe in honest dialogue in a safe community of faith where we can process, pray, learn and grow. We hope you'll engage with us in the weeks ahead and delve into conversations that matter woith

The JYM big fall fundraiser is fast approaching. The Walk-a-Thon is a pretty straight forward fundraiser, where students as church members, family and friends to donations to the Joint Youth Ministry. Our goal is to raise $20,000 this year, without including Lisa/Kat's fundraising efforts which are tallied separately. We hope students can rally and raise that together.
Donations are tax-deductible. Email your family and friends and ask them to pledge YOU in this Walk-a-thon. Here is the link to send
Walk-a-thon Pledge
We handed out forms and envelopes this weekend but you can pick them up this week and the weeks ahead as well. Get started soon! You can also print your own right here-
Money that we raise provides scholarships, pays for our program budget, gives a family groceries or counseling, salaries and lots of other boring but super important expenses! So help us to raise raise raise and make the JYM a wonderful place for everyone.

Parents - would you be interested in attending a parent group while your student was at youth group? We have a couple of pastors who would be interested in leading one. It would be a time for you to receive support, to discuss questions with other parents, and to be spiritually fed yourself.
If you would be interested in attending something like this (we would probably offer it 2x a month) please shoot Lisa a quick e-mail letting her know!

We hope the SJUSD families are having an awesome break week! We know of some very jealous students who are still in school this week! We hope to circle back up all together this Sunday for a little Family Youth Group for all ages!
