Herb Day!
All across the country, events highlighting the many benefits of herbs were held on Herb Day , Saturday May 6. As we have every year, we donated a share of our Friday (5/5) profits to United Plant Savers, an organization we think essential to herb sustainability. Their mission is to protect native medicinal plants of the United States and Canada and their native habitat while ensuring an abundant renewable supply of medicinal plants for generations to come. If you placed an order Friday 5th, you helped with our donation, so thank you!
Men's Midlife Tonic™ formerly Gentle-Man™

Next time you order Gentle-Man™ Formula you'll notice a new name that better describes its purpose: to provide support for men experiencing andropause. Men's Midlife Tonic™ contains herbs that balance the emotional irritability and grouchiness men go through during the period in their lives when testosterone levels decline, usually age 50-65. When David first developed Men's Midlife Tonic™, he called it Grumpy Old Man's formula. Jokes aside, as men age their roles in the world shift, how their bodies feel changes, and they need support just as women going through menopause do. This is a formula designed for long term use.
Conferences We've Attended Recently

H&A exhibited at the New York Integrative Healthcare Symposium in February, the first event of the practitioner conference season. David did a book signing, and caught up with former students.
The Southwest Conference on Botanical Medicine in April was well attended and inspiring, as always. David taught: Medicines of the Soul: The Ritual Use of Plants, Treatment of Bacterial MDR (MRSA, VRE) with Botanical Therapies, and Botanical and Nutritional Protocols for Diabetes Mellitus.
The University of Bridgeport Health Sciences Vendor Day in April gave us the opportunity to meet members of UB's Graduate Health Sciences community, the next generation of naturopaths, and local healthcare professionals. H&A products are stocked in the UBridgeport apothecary!
New Catalog - Organized by Condition
As the retailing of herbal products has evolved, it's become clear to us that for the most part, grouping products by condition is more effective than strict alphabetization. This condition specific focus has become more common for good reason - it helps consumers to find and choose products with more confidence. We've revised our catalog to reflect this practice. All products are still listed alphabetically in our Price List.

Beth Lambert H&A CEO observes "David's formulas are more specific for issues than many products from other companies. Even some of our Best Customers have told me 'that's a great formula, I forgot about using it for that issue.' So we have listed Formulas and Simple Extracts where they may be helpful."

Ask to include a New Catalog with your Next Order
Upcoming Events
Medicines from the Earth Symposium , Black Mountain NC from June 2-5. David will teach: Ethnobotanical and Native Plant Field Study , Alzheimer's Disease: The Loss of Memory and Self, and Herbal and Nutritional Approaches to Hepatitis B & C.

David will teach at the International Herb Symposium at Wheaton College, Norton, MA June 9-11, which the organizers accurately describe as a "convergence of international plant wisdom."  H&A is a proud sponsor of this extraordinary gathering.
We will exhibit at Natural Products Expo East Baltimore MD Sept 13-16, with herbal library giveaways and David signing free copies of his books.

David's 2016-2018 class is deep into their studies in the current Herbalist Training Program. If you've thought about expanding your herbal medicine knowledge, you can't do better than this two-year program, which David has been teaching for 36 years. David's past students use their training in a variety of ways: clinical work, research, hospital care, product manufacturing, retailing and educating. You can attend the two-year course in person or online. Classes are held once a week on Tuesday evenings.
