You are welcome to our Eighth Community Read events:  
Join the Wednesday Night Book Club to discuss Lizzie Bright... on 5th at 7:00.  Learn about Raising Resilient Children & Adolescents with Dr. Robert Brooks at the High School Auditorium on Thur. 6 at 7:00. Thur. 20 at 7:00 Kate McBrien, Chief Curator of the Maine Historical Society, presents historical artifacts documenting Maine's Malaga Island 1860-1912
Author Gary D. Schmidt visits Gordon College on Thur. 27 for a reception and book signing from 6:00-7:00 in the Ken Olsen Science Center. At 7:30, a few steps away, in the A.J. Gordon Memorial Chapel he'll talk about Lizzie Bright, the Buckminster Boy and 9/11. He was awarded the Newbery Honor twice, the Printz  Honor, as well as being a finalist for the National Book Award in 2011 for Okay for Now.
All events are free and open to the public.

Some weekly programs have space for a few more: Baby Bookworms (Tue. 10:30), Sweet Dreams Story Makers (Thur. 6:30), and LEGO Club (Wed. 3:00).

Special events include: STEAM into Science Tue. 4 at 3:30, Mad Hatter Storytime Sat. 8 at 11:00, Apple Harvest Storytime Sat. 15 at 11:00, Art Club Thur. 20 at 3:30, Paws to Read with Tessie Fri. 21 at 3:30, and Pumpkin Decorating Sat. 22 at 11:00 (BYOP). Enter your painted, ribboned, pom-pomed, doodled (anything but carved) pumpkin in our decorating contest. Prizes will be awarded to all!

Looking ahead: November features a story writing contest, but first join us for a Young Writers' Workshop to explore the elements of writing using a story map on Sat. Nov. 5 at 11:00.  There's also Chess on Mondays, sign up now.
