Guam Women’s Club wrap up

Women's History Month and Mes CHamoru with Håfa Adai Pledge

The Guam Women's Club represented by Leo Jordanou , President Donna Kloppenburg , Vice President and Honorable Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo , Past President joined by Antonio Muna , GVB Acting President and CEO, Brad Kloppenburg , GVB Board Member (Membership & Community Outreach – Chairman; Korea Market Vice Chairman) and Bruce Kloppenburg , Former GVB Board Director.

The Guam Women's Club took the H å fa Adai Pledge ceremony on Friday, March 30th at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort. Joined by GVB’s Acting President Antonio Muna and the GVB team as they administer a special Mes Chamoru and Women’s History Month pledge for the Board of Directors and members of the Guam Women’s Club.

The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) celebrated a special Mes CHamoru Håfa Adai Pledge Kids (HAP Kids) ceremony on March 24th at the Bonita Baby Store in Hågatña. GVB team welcomed 11 local pre-school and elementary-aged students and four kid friendly businesses - Gåtbo Guam, Cutie Petunias, Autonomous Inc. and Boat Shop as the program’s newest members.

LIVING THE HÅFA ADAI PLEDGE

Mylee Perez De Leon

Mylee Perez De Leon recently took the pledge as a Håfa Adai Pledge kid and beach ambassador. She is the daughter of Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Shack retail & rental services owners Jonte & Lad De Leon who are members of the Håfa Adai Pledge familia. As a family, they strive to place the Håfa Adai Spirit not only in their business but in all that they do. “Having the Håfa Adai spirit means taking pride in our Island and our culture and sharing it with other fellow islanders and tourists,” says Mylee. As a Håfa Adai Pledge kid, Mylee shares that by taking the pledge it teaches her how to understand the importance of one’s culture, especially coming from Guam and being Chamorro.

Mylee is often seen caring for Guam’s beautiful beaches and educating both locals and tourists on how to handle sea life along with coral care during tours through SUP Shack. Mylee shares, “I try to always be respectful to others and do my best to pick up trash when I see it lying around. I also help my mom and dad with their business as best as I can so they know that it is a family effort.” During her free time, Mylee also enjoys participating in workshops to understand sea life, coral bleaching and to learn more on how to do her part with the belief that it further helps and promote a sense of community. “I really enjoy paddling with my Outrigger Club team “TULOS” which means to push or pull forward. They always inspire me along with my parents to take care of our island.”

Visit the Håfa Adai Pledge Neni's (kids) booth at the 30th annual Guam Micronesia Island Fair. Cultural demonstrations will be held daily. Guam Visitors Bureau would like to invite all kids to take the Håfa Adai Pledge at the booth. Signings will be held on Friday, May 4 to Sunday, May 6. Signers will receive a Guam brand bag filled with goodies from Bonita Baby Tradiing Co., Love from Guam and more! Visit the booth for details.
