1-24-12      11:01AM    37 14th St

537 PC (Defrauding and innkeeper) A male subject walked out on bill at the location He has done this in the past. The RP is followed the suspect and PD located and contacted him. The subject was arrested and cited for the violation.

 

1-25-12       6:21AM     1000 blk of 9th St

459PC (Vehicle Burglary) Unknown suspect(s) broke into a parked vehicle in the area. The rear window on the SUV was shattered out. There was a 21" computer monitor missing from inside of the cargo area of the vehicle. This occurred at the time of the call. A vehicle was seen leaving the area N/B Ocean Dr.  

 

1-25-12       2:54PM     6th St & Bayview

484 PC (Theft of recyclables) there was a report of a subject going through the recyclables in the area. The subject was located and contacted. They were advised on the violation. **Great call to HBPD by the resident to advise of this violation as they will approach the person(s) and do a Field Identification Card.  This card information is very valuable if their should be a later reported crime in the area.  HBPD will let them know it is illegal to take from the trash.  Also, remember to shred your important papers as this is a common way to steal your identity.

549 PC (Vehicle Burglary) Unknown suspect(s) smash out window of vehicle. A Kindle and a gift card were taken from inside of the vehicle. No one was seen or heard.  

 

1-26-12     10:11AM   10th & Bayview

484 PC (Theft of recyclables) there was a report of a subject going through the recyclables in the area. The subject was located and contacted. They were advised on the violation.

484 PC (Theft of recyclables) there was a report of a subject going through the recyclables in the area. The subject was GOA/UTL.

1-27-12   9:30AM       200 bkl of 27th St

484PC (Theft of License plate) License plates taken from the victim's vehicle. This theft occurred during the night.

 

1-27-12    5:46PM        155 PCH (CVS)

459PC (Commercial Burglary) Initial call, bicycle just taken from residence in area. It turns out that there were subjects inside CVS-attempting to steal the safe. As officers arrive on scene the suspects were leaving the location on bikes and on foot. One suspect was chased and ultimately caught a few blocks away. A second suspect was caught approximately an hour later while conducting a follow-up investigation.  The third suspect is still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.

 

1-28-12    10:05PM      155 PCH (CVS)

211PC (Robbery) The suspect enters the store at closing time and grabs a 12 pack of beer.  While at the register he points a small semi-auto gun at the cashier and demands money.  The suspect runs out the front doors of the store and is seen running towards 3rd St.  Area check was negative. Officers assisted collected prints and possible DNA at the scene. The suspect in this crime matches the description of a similar crime in Manhattan Beach.

 

1-29-12    2:04PM    2000 block of Circle Dr

487PC (Theft) Unknown suspect(s) take victim's wetsuits & surfboards that had been hanging next to the front door. This crime occurred on 01-23-12 between 6:00-7:30a.m., no suspect info.

(Theft from Vehicle) The victim's unlocked vehicle was parked in the driveway when unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle and took several items including a GPS, a radar detector, sunglasses, pocket knife and assorted change.

 

 

1/20/12 - 1/21/12    4:30 p.m. - 10 a.m.    

 

 

1200 block of 3rd St

(Residential Burglary) Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through an open upstairs window by placing a ladder under the window. Suspect(s) ransacked a closet and rummaged through other items. It is unknown if anything is missing from the residence at this time.

 

 

1/21/12 - 1/22/12    11:30 p.m. - 9:45 a.m.    

 

 

100 block of N. Herrin St

(Burglary from Vehicle) The victim parked and locked the vehicle in the driveway. When he returned he discovered a small pry hole under the driver's side door handle through which access was made to the vehicle.

Unknown suspect(s) stole a credit card, driver's license and cash.

(Burglary from Vehicle) Unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear side window from the locked vehicle that was parked on the street and stole an iPod from the center console.
