STEMM Middle College launched in fall 2013
In partnership with Washington County Public Schools (WCPS), HCC recently implemented a new STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medical) Technical Middle College (STMC) to bring high school students more opportunities to earn postsecondary credits and credentials.This new program allows county high school students to finish their last two years of high school on the HCC campus. First Nora Roberts Writing Institute held in August
In 2013, HCC launched the Nora Roberts Writing Institute (NRWI). Held annually each summer, NRWI is an intensive two-day conference geared towards beginning and aspiring fiction writers. More than 100 attendees from across the United States came for the inaugural year. The conference featured international bestselling author Sylvia Day and critically acclaimed author Erica Bauermeister as keynote speakers and a number of workshops and breakout sessions. HCC graduates first class of Police Academy
HCC recently held its first Police Academy graduation. The HCC Police Academy is an entry-level police training academy designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to function effectively in all areas of law enforcement. [ Learn more]

HCC unveils college history book
This fall, HCC released a 339-page book chronicling the college's 67-year history. The book, "The Community's College: The Remarkable Journey of Hagerstown Community College, 1946-2012," was written by Dr. Diane Weaver, a historian and former grants director at HCC. The book was unveiled at a special ceremony and book signing on Aug. 27, 2013, and is now available to the public through the HCC Campus Store. [ Learn more]
