Fall Training Feedback
Thank you to everyone that took the time to come to Fall Training. A survey was sent out to all attendees. We want to hear from you and how HCC PTA can improve our training events to better serve our local units. If you missed the survey, please email Jessica Kociara with your feedback at VPLeadership@hccptaptsa.org. If you couldn't attend, we will be having a Winter and Spring Training. Information for both will be on our social media so stay tuned.

Remember, HCC PTA is here to help you. If you have any questions, please contact us.

We are PTA - Every Child One Voice
PTA is our nation's largest Child Advocacy Organization with over 4 million members.  Advocacy is the root of all elements that contribute to an excellent education for our students.  The first step to effective advocacy is to speak to your members, understand what is important to them.  This can direct where your advocacy efforts reach.  You can use this information to guide your programming for the year.

We also ask that if you do not have a Legislative Chair or Advocacy Chair on your board, that you recruit a current board member to serve in this role - even informally.  It only requires keeping up with advocacy information PCC PTA provides to local units and sharing this information with your membership so parents can be informed on matters affecting their child's education.  We encourage all PTA members to sign up with Voter Voice https://floridapta.org/voter-voice-legislative/ to receive information about legislation in the state of Florida.

Please email the HCC PTA Legislative Chair, Teresa Potter, at teresapotter1@gmail.com, or the HCC PTA VP of Advocacy, Mindy Taylor, at vpadvocacy@hccptaptsa.org to give us contact information for your advocacy volunteer and we can get them the latest up to date information.  We are also happy to answer questions!
Making Better Choices
How do you feel about the food choices you made today? Making choices about what you have for breakfast, lunch, or dinner might explain how you feel right now - stuffed and tired or roaring to go? What can you do to feel better? Make small daily changes in what you eat to help you feel better.  You don't have to give up all the foods you love, just modify them to make them healthier! Here are a few examples:
  • Instead of white rice, try brown rice.
  • Instead of fast food, pack your lunch OR make dinner at home.
  • Instead of French fries, you can have a small baked potato topped with healthier choices like yogurt instead of sour cream, or fresh herbs.
  • Instead of chips or cookies, have fruit or veggies for a healthier snack. Your body will thank you later.
  • And always drink plenty of water to wash everything down. Those sugary, drinks have no nutritional value and will not benefit your body.

How do you want to feel the rest of the day? If you want to feel good, MAKE BETTER CHOICES!
