Thank You Harper's Choice!

Swansfield Elementary School sends sincere thanks for the $500 grant from the Harper's Choice Village Association's Juanita Robinson Fund. This money allowed the school to purchase almost 100 new, culturally relevant books to give to families! At the school's recent Family Library Night, staff were able to give new and used books to over 100 children. We wish we could adequately capture the enthusiasm of the children who came to this event and received these books. This photo shows a few of the books purchased  with the grant and the thank you sticker placed inside the books.
Did You Know...
Yard Waste in Plastic Bags WILL NOT Be Collected?

As of January 1, 2016, all curbside yard trim service  has made the transition to plastic bag free collection . Howard County reminds residents to bundle material, or use paper bags and reusable containers for yard trim collection.   Earn a coupon  for free paper bags (bags are available at the 4 locations listed on the coupon).

Collection crews will not pick-up yard trim in plastic bags.

Residents should not use any type of plastic bag, including biodegradable plastic bags. Why? Collection crews have a hard time differentiating between biodegradable plastic bags and regular plastic bags. In an effort to make collection routes efficient, we are not allowing residents to use any type of plastic bag, including biodegradable plastic bags.
