HCCE Elects New President Armin Egger

Following Walter Straub (Hofburg, Wien), Michael Sharp (Central Hall Westminster, London) Holger Kruppe (Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal) Armin Egger (Congress Graz)was unanimously elected as president of HCCE at the Trauttmansdorf Castle, Merano, Italy during the Annual General Assembly 13th April 2012.

 

Armin Egger immediately thanked retiring president Holger Kruppe for the enthusiasm and dedication that was a hallmark of his time in office. Holger Kruppe remarked: in 1994 Niki Braisach, Graz, Walter Straub, Vienna, and others first met to discuss the formation of an association for unique conference and concert venues. The association members would serve the meeting industry as the premier partner with their unique historic environment. In 1995 twelve exceptional venues formed the alliance and selected the title for the group as the Historic Conference Centres of Europe - HCCE. Today HCCE is an association registered in the UK, London, with 22 members in 12 significantly different European countries and more waiting to join.

 

Armin Egger replied that whilst Graz was a Founder Member of HCCE he should explain a little of his background and experience;

Born in Austria and educated in both Austria and California with many senior career appointments including heading two bids for the Olympic Winter Games. Significantly becoming the CEO and President of Davos Switzerland, one of the most prestigious destinations within the European Alps and MICE industry. Davos, the home of the well known World Economic Forum. Since 2009 the CEO and President of the MCG group, a holding company which owns 5 companies and manages 6 further companies. One of these companies is the Congress Graz which is a founding and a proud member of HCCE.

Armin Egger closed by reporting that Clients of HCCE members can count on highly professional teams that aim not only to offer the highest quality service but to create long term business relationships. HCCE recognise and greatly appreciate clients recommending HCCE venues to other clients and friends following the outstanding service and unique environment that they have enjoyed. With 22 centres in 12 countries clients can celebrate future events at distinctive member venues across Europe.

Historic Conference Centres of Europe (HCCE) is pleased to announce it will be exhibiting at IMEX 2012 in Frankfurt, from 22nd to 24th May on stand D050.

 

All 22 members of the HCCE will be represented, offering a network of unique conference and convention centres in heritage buildings situated throughout Europe.

 

HCCE is the most significant international association of historic conference centres in the world. HCCE members offer an enormous variety and choice in atmosphere, architecture and capacity available at each conference centre.

 

Each venue hosts a minimum of 150 delegates, is a minimum of 100 years old and represents landmarks in rich cultural European cities.

CONGRESS CENTRE LE PALAIS BEAUMONT - Exciting programme of Incentives and Events

ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup.

Do not miss the second series of ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup which will take place in the White Water Stadium in June.

The world Cup series plays a roll in the selection and training for the Olympic Games 2012 in London.

For this occasion, Le Palais Beaumont creates a package which includes a half day meeting at the Congress Centre and the afternoon at the White Water Stadium (competition or animation of the discipline).

 

The Pau Golf 1856 Cup.

The Pau Golf 1856 Cup, in the beginning of July open to all players and takes place over three days. The Grand Prix de Pau, bringing together the best French amateurs, in August. These events take place to Pau Golf Club, the oldest club in continental Europe.

 

International Horse Trials.

To close the year, Pau hosts the only 4 Star International Horse Trials in France and is one of the 6 biggest Eventing meetings in the world. With Pau, the club of the CCI 4 stars includes: Great Britain, the United States, Germany and Australia. The Stars of Pau compete with the elite of international riders and all prepare for four days of excitement and emotion!

Villa Erba - HCCE Welcomes and Introduces a New Member

Villa Erba Spa is the latest Member to join HCCE and we would like to introduce you to the history and facilities of this magnificent property.

 

The old villa where Luchino Visconti spent his childhood, a park to wander through centuries-old trees and see rare plants next to Lake Como. Confidential and easy to reach, atmospheric and a comprehensive service offering.

 

Villa Erba in Cernobbio constructed between 1898 and 1901 in the Mannerist style with a panoramic tower was built for Luigi Erba, brother of Carlo Erba, and grandfather of Luchino Visconti, famous film director. Villa Erba, a sumptuous residence for the family vacation was created as a symbol of their wealth.

 

In 1986 the property passed to a public society and was transformed into a congress centre. A multi-purpose 6,500 sqm net single storey exhibition and convention centre designed by Mario Bellini the internationally renowned architect and designer, winner of many prestigious awards.

The centre can be divided for exhibitions with more than 200 stands and 28 meeting rooms from 50 to 1,500 seats. In the Central Hall the windows can be blacked out or completely open, in the warmer months, with views of the park and the lake. Complete catering is supplied from the kitchen equipped with the latest facilities to meet all tastes.

 

Today the villa, with ancient frescoes, precious ceilings, airy and opulent architecture, retains its original vocation and with the congress centre equipped with the latest technology is poised to become the backdrop for your next event.

Hannover Congress Centrum - Launches New Company Logo and Image

"The 100th anniversary of the Hannover Congress Centrum in 2014 not only mean various necessary preparations and activities for the buildings but also the overhaul of the entire representation of the business, and a refreshment of its image.", says Joachim König, the director of the HCC.

 

At the same time, the logo of the HCC was revised and a more modern and catchy graphic design was evolved.

 

"As of now, the new logo will support the HCC slogan "Tradition and Innovation" and will thus ensure an even better national and international perception of our congress and event centre." adds the director of the HCC, Joachim König.

 

The logo project was carried out in cooperation with the Landeshauptstadt Hannover which also represent the city of Hannover as well as Hannover Region especially for touristic and city marketing purposes.

HCCE Elects New Director - Claudia Kranjec of Congress Graz

On the 28th November 2011 in Barcelona HCCE Members at their Fall General Assembly voted unanimously to elect Claudia Kranjec of Congress Graz to the HCCE Board of Directors. President Holger Kruppe congratulated Claudia on the appointment especially as Congress Graz with former CEO Nikolaus Breisach was one of the founding members of HCCE.

 

Claudia Kranjec is responsible for congress sales and marketing of Messe Congress Graz, the umbrella organisation that operates six other companies in addition to the historic Congress Graz. Prior to joining the company in 2008, Claudia Kranjec was Operations Manager at RMP Travel, a DMC located in New York City. Claudia gained additional international experience during employment in the accounting department of the Hilton Hotel Barcelona. During her studies of Tourism and Leisure Management at the University of Applied Sciences Krems from 2002 to 2006, Claudia worked in the Sales Department of Casino Austria in Kitzbühel. Prior to gaining experience in gastronomy in Austria and Southern Germany.

 

Holger Kruppe finally explained that Claudia had also accepted the responsibility for leading the Sales and Marketing Task Force Groups. The Groups work benefit all members' sales activities, each Group consists of 3 or 4 members particularly interested or specializing in a particular topic as follows;

  • TF1 HCCE Client Club.
  • TF2 Social media.
  • TF3 Website/database.
  • TF4 Client events, tradeshows, gadgets.

 

All Members applauded Claudia's appointment expressing their support and looked forward to working together in the coming years.

 

Kurhaus Wiesbaden - Opera Stars to Perform on the Bowling Green.

The opera stars Anna Netrebko and Erwin Schrott will perform on the Bowling Green in front of the Wiesbaden Kurhaus on 9th June, 2012 presenting opera lovers with an unforgettable concert evening. Once again in Germany in 2012 two of the best known opera singers in the world today will present music fans with a once in a lifetime concert experience.

On 9th June the perfect couple of the classics will be accompanied by the Prague Philharmonic in Wiesbaden. The concert staged on the Bowling Green with the two superstars of classical music will be a unique experience for the audience.

Born in Russia, Anna Netrebko is today an Austrian citizen and among the really great opera singers. Her partner, Erwin Schrott, was born in Montevideo in Uruguay and, like Netrebko, he too is now a guest at the truly great opera houses such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna Opera House), the Los Angeles Opera, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Royal Opera House London and La Scala in Milan.

HCCE 2012 AGA - Held in Merano South Tyrol Italy

The Historical Conference Centres of Europe (HCCE) held their Annual General Assembly from the 13th to the 15th April 2012 in Merano, South Tyrol, Italy.

 

The assembly held at the Trauttmansdorff Castle gave the opportunity to network exchange ideas, experiences, whilst being educated and enjoy a diverse range of social activities. Dr Paul Rosch Director at the Castle explained to members the history of Trauttmansdorff and the magnificent themed gardens.

 

Members and guests also visited HCCE member venue the Kurhaus Merano  a most beautiful building in the Alps in art nouveau style. The elegant architecture of the buildings, the selection of rooms of differing sizes, the sophisticated technical equipment and the comprehensive service ensure that the Kurhaus and the Merano Theatre are the first choice for major meetings, conferences, concerts, festivals and congresses in South Tyrol.

 

Thanks go to Hermann Schnitzer and his team at SMT Consulting for preparing the programme, using their experience and know how to organize all of the detail making the Annual General Assembly such a success.

 

Special thanks also go to Andreas Cappello President of Kurhaus Merano for his support and time in over seeing the visit to Merano, nestling in the fascinating landscape of the southern side of the Alps.

This project offers people in areas without power supply the opportunity to use a solar lamp by paying one dollar a month. Thus they can abstain from using candles and paraffin lamps - that is not just cheaper but also more sustainable.

Central Hall Westminster - Marks 100 Years with New Brand image.

Central Hall Westminster, the largest conference facility in Central London, is marking its upcoming 100th anniversary with a new brand identity, designed to help take the venue forward into its second century.

 

 

The venue will roll out the new identity across every element of its communications, including the branding of the building, and all marketing materials by the beginning of May.

  

"As Central Hall Westminster enters its second century we believe it is the right time to freshen up our identity," commented marketing manager Maria Schuett: "The move symbolises the way in which we are keen to look forward to the future, and continue adding to the venue's incredible story. We have a history that is unrivalled and should rightly be celebrated, but we are also still planning for the years ahead of us, mixing a proud tradition with modern innovation."
