Dear Colleagues,
HCCE has had a very busy summer and is now looking forward and planning for EIBTM 2011. After a very successful IMEX in Frankfurt during May 2011, our preparations now turn to make EIBTM in Barcelona November 29th - December 1st an profitable success for HCCE members. More than 200 contacts were made at EIBTM last year and HCCE plan to increase these figures this year. The HCCE exhibition stand layout will be redesigned this year as will an update of the website. Last month HCCE gained a new member Le Majestic at the foot of Europe's highest mountain: Mont Blanc in the region of Chamonix! There are more centres applying for membership of HCCE and we will keep you updated of their progress.
In the Autumn of 2011 HCCE are well advanced with plans for two Sales Drives in North-Rhine-Westphalia (25th - 27th September) and in the Rhine-Main Area. All participating members will use the utmost skills in presenting to clients the extensive facilities that HCCE member venues can offer, guaranteeing a profound and perfect meeting in a Historic Centre.
I hope Europe and HCCE member centres will continue to offer you the utmost success in your MICE business.

| HCCE Elects New Board of Directors | | |
HCCE members elected a new Board of Directors during their Annual General Meeting held recently at Slot Zeist in The Netherlands.
Michael Sharp - Central Hall Westminster retiring President thanked August Moderer - Congress Centrum Mainz, Michiel Lindenbergh - Beurs van Berlage for their hard work during many years as directors of HCCE who were also standing down.
Michael Sharp then went on to congratulate Holger Kruppe - Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal, Alberto Ciarallo - Complesso Monumentale Santo Spirito and Bastian Fiedler - M:CON Congress Center Rosengarten for their ongoing support as directors. Welcoming new to the HCCE Board Jos Ruijs - Slot Zeist, Raymond Horper - Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumunster, Ole Hartjen - Congress Centre Kursaal Interlaken, Michael Sharp wished all Directors every success for the future.

We all know that after summer comes fall. And at congress|graz this means that after restoration work, there comes a busy conference season. The Complesso Santo Spirito is about to celebrate a wonderful milestone: hosting its 1000th event!
The Complesso Santo Spirito embarked upon its new career as a historic venue for conferences, meetings, incentives and gala dinners in 2005.
Since then, many events have been organized in this exclusive venue located in the center of Rome, a few steps from San Peter Basilica with unique frescos of the XV century and other masterpieces kept inside the different halls.

| Congress Centre Mainz Green Plus Package | | 
"greenplus" for CO2-free conferences
The Congress Center Mainz (CCM) takes a further step towards a green future: Introducing the new meetings package "greenplus", the Green Globe- and German Oekoprofit-certified company now enables their clients to run completely CO2-free conferences. By booking the "greenplus" package, clients benefit from numerous advantages and can additionally take responsibility for the environment.
The package is built on a modular basis. It comprises train tickets from Deutsche Bahn AG, the use of an electric vehicle as well as congress cards for public transport for the duration of the conference. Furthermore, it offers the possibility to purchase solar savings certificates, the supply of green electricity and to serve customers with sustainable catering. Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal Host The XIV Argentinean Tango Ball | |

The "XIV. Ball Tango Argentino" in the fantastic atmosphere of the great ballroom of the "Historische Stadthalle" in Wuppertal is one of largest and most popular dance evenings of its kind in Europe and the central event of the year for dancers and "aficionados" of the authentic Argentinian tango. The first Ball took place at Pina Bausch "Tanztheater Wuppertal" 20. anniversary in 1998.
The "XIV. Ball Tango Argentino" forms part of the "Int. Tango Festival Wuppertal", which will be held from 29. Sep. to 03 Oct 2011. The festival will consist of concerts, shows and workshops and many other events related to the Argentinian Tango. The Wuppertaler Tanztheater of Pina Bausch, many of whose members are tango fans, and the town's pulsating dance scene have given Wuppertal a title to fame which extends far beyond the region. The "XIV. Ball Tango Argentino" in the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal is the absolute climax of the "International Tango Festival Wuppertal". |

Kongress Palais Kassel Extends by 2000 m2 | |
This year, the Kongress Palais Kassel was extended with an architectural gem: the exclusive colonnade wing makes the historic building appear in a different light. Created by focusing upon to detail, the annex to the historic sandstone building combines modernity and tradition.
The colonnade wing extends to just under 2000 m2, and thus increases the capacity for events to up to 4,350 people and more. As a result, the event space of the Kongress Palais is increased to 7,000 m2 in total. 4,500 m2 of usable outdoor areas are also available.
The colonnade hall provides the second largest hall area in the Kongress Palais at just under 800 m2 and is ideal for congresses, conferences, exhibitions and cultural events. The large, light and open foyer is located beneath the hall and can be used, for example, as a reception, exhibition, lounge or catering area.
From 28th August to 1st September 2011, the first major event inaugurating the colonnade wing took place in the Kongress Palais Kassel: more than 1,000 participants from 70 nations came to the Solar World Congress, the largest and most important scientific congress in the world on the subject of solar energy and solar technology. The most important solar research institutes and universities and the leading companies of the solar industry were represented here.
