WASTEWATER PROJECT UPDATE
 

Assessment District Update

  • On May 13, 2015, property owners overwhelmingly supported forming Assessment District 2014-1 with 72% approval. It took Koppel & Gruber, a private contractor, more than 7 hours to tabulate the nearly 5,000 ballots received. Assessments will be reflected on property taxes one year prior to the completion of construction which is tentatively scheduled to be in December 2017. Click Here to read more.

 Funding Update

  • The successful formation of Assessment District 2014-1 on May 13, 2015, has locked in a one percent loan from the State Revolving Fund (SRF) to finance the individual property owner shared cost of the sewer project;
     
  • HDWD has secured $4 million federal grant from the United States Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation to go towards cost of constructing Phase 1 of the Sewer Project. Click Here for more information.
  • HDWD will soon be returning to the SWRCB for low interest financing to help property owners with private property connection costs;
  • HDWD is in the process of developing a financial assistance program. More details will become available in the coming months.

Prohibition Update

 

  • The formation of Assessment District 2014-1 will move the project forward and the Regional Water Quality Control Board is in the process of extending the prohibition dates for all three Phases to accommodate the construction timeline. More details will become available in the coming months.

Design Update 
  • HDWD is continuing to work on obtaining easements for the future installation of the sewer project's collection system. Click Here to see if your property has been assigned to an easement proposal. If you see your property listed, please click here to fill out a contact form. DROUGHT UPDATE
  

The State Water Resources Control Board has imposed mandatory restrictions along with different mandatory conservation goals to each urban area based on per capita water use. The customers of the Hi-Desert Water District have been assigned a conservation goal of 16%. .

 

On June 3, the HDWD Board approved Resolution #15-09 setting additional water use restrictions.

CAPITAL REPLACEMENT PROGRAM (CRP)

CRP crews recently completed work on Hwy 247. 

On June 15th, CRP crews will begin replacing water mains within the Phase 1 area, located near Palm Ave and Onaga.

AVAILABLE REBATE PROGRAMS
 
Toilet Rebate
HDWD is offering residential customers rebates for replacing old toilets (using 3.5 gallons per flush or more) with a high-efficiency models. 

Water used for toilet flushing can be reduced by up to 62% by installing toilets that use 1.3 gallons per flush or less. HDWD will offer up to $100 per toilet with a limit of 2 new toilets per household.

Cash for Grass
Through Mojave Water Agency's rebate program, HDWD customers can apply for $0.50 per square foot (up to $3,000) to use desert-friendly landscaping in place of grass.

After HDWD has conducted a pre-installation inspection, you will have up to 6 months to finish your complete drought tolerant landscaping.

DEMONSTRATION GARDEN OPEN TO PUBLIC
 
HDWD's Demonstration Garden was developed to show customers creative ways to design a landscape that is both beautiful and water efficient. 

Visit our garden located in front of HDWD's office (55439 29 Palms Hwy) for xeriscaping inspiration.

1st and 3rd Wednesdays
6:00 p.m.

The HDWD Board meets twice every month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday in the HDWD board room at 55439 29 Palms Highway, Yucca Valley. Customers can attend the meeting or watch the televised broadcast on Time Warner Channel 10 on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. of the following week.
