WASTEWATER PROJECT UPDATE

Design Update 

  • HDWD is working on obtaining easements for the future installation of the sewer project's collection system;

 Funding Update

  • The State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan application package is currently being reviewed by the California Water Quality Control Board (CRWQCB) staff and legal counsel;
  • Once the review of the loan application is completed, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (CRWQCB) will notify HDWD as to the date when the Assessment District loan will be presented to the CRWQCB;
  • After the CRWQCB approves the SRF loan and interest rate, HDWD will mail ballots for the Assessment District vote to property owners.

STATE WATER ALLOCATION INCREASE
  

The Department of Water Resources announced on January 15th that customers of the State Water Project (SWP) can anticipate receiving only about 15% of their usual water allotment in 2015.

 

HDWD is currently receiving approximately 1,100 acre feet to recharge the local groundwater supply.  

 

 

 

FILLMORE WASTEWATER FACILITY VIDEO
On November 20th, HDWD hosted a tour of the Fillmore Wastewater Facility. This plant will be similar to the Sewer Project's facility in size and the use of technology (membrane bioreactors) to treat waste water.

CAPITAL REPLACEMENT PROGRAM (CRP)

CRP crews have replaced approximately 21,000 feet of new water mains this fiscal year, (since July 2014). A total of 551,640 feet of new water mains have been installed over the course of the project.

In the first weeks of February, CRP crews will have completed work in the Mesa area of Yucca Valley (North of Buena Vista, between Warren Vista and Avalon Avenue).

The next area the CRP crew will begin replacing water mains, will be within the Phase 1 area of the sewer project which includes most of the downtown corridor.

WATER UPDATE
Water System Master Plan
The District is finishing up the review of its draft Water System Master Plan which should be completed within the coming months. The plan will help guide the District's growth by intensifying key water supply needs and infrastructure improvement.

New Pneumatic Pump in Design
To help improve our infrastructure, the District is designing a new Pneumatic Pump Station to replace an old facility, which serves customers above the Western Hills Estates.

Wells 17E & 12E

At the end of 2014, the District completed the repair and rehabilitation of two wells (17E & 12E). Repair and rehabilitation included the cleaning of existing well screens and the replacement of equipment which improvement efficiency.

WINTERIZE YOUR PROPERTY
During this winter season, make sure your property is winterized to prevent damage to your pipes and property.

Outside:
  • Turn off water to swamp coolers and drain the line 
  • Insulate exposed irrigation system lines
  • Wrap outside facets with insulation if they aren't drained
Inside:
  • Insulate pipes in unheated areas.
  • When vacating your property for long lengths of time, leave your furnace on a low setting and turn off water at the meter.
