Wastewater Project
New Geographical Information System (GIS) Portal Now Available
The purpose of the GIS portal is to provide direct communication between project administrators and residents/property owners during the design and construction of the Wastewater Reclamation Project. Residents and property owners are able to submit comments directly to project administrators and view important information such as proposed sewer alignments, manholes, private-connection pipes (laterals), assessor parcels, easements and septic tank locations. Assessment Update
Staff at Hi-Desert Water District is currently reviewing preliminary assessment costs for the Wastewater Reclamation Project.  Costs will be finalized in March and presented to the Board for approval. Property owners will be able to obtain costs by visiting www.protectgroundwater.org or calling Jennifer Poland at (760) 228-6267.

Outreach Update   
  • The March edition of "Wastewater Made Clear" in this weekend's local paper, will talk about current drought conditions and reclaiming waste water; 
  • A time lapse video on the installation of the city of Los Osos sewer pipe is currently being featured on www.protectgroundwater.org;   
  • A video about the Wastewater Reclamation Project will become available next month on YouTube and on the project's website, and it will discuss the benefits of the project, why the project needs to be constructed, and how property owners will be paying for the project;

Drought Conditions Keeps Focus on Conservation
Water-wise Landscaping
As a result of current drought conditions, HDWD is encouraging customers to continue to conserve water by using water-wise plants. HDWD has a demonstration garden in front of its office on the corner of 29 Palms Highway and Inca Trail, that's open to the public.  It's a great resource to see what beautiful water-wise plants you can plant this Spring.

Old Auto Pay System will be Discontinued
Payments
Effective April 1, 2014, Hi-Desert Water District (HDWD) is discontinuing the current auto payment program.  
How to register for new Auto Pay Program
You can visit HDWD or click on the Auto Pay icon on the left.  Login or register your account.  Enter your account information and click on Go and continue with instructions that follow or you can click here to view a video tutorial on how to sign up for auto pay.

Other Payment Options
You may visit www.hdwd.com for one time only payments or to sign up for Auto Pay.  You can pay in person at our offices located at 55439 29 Palms Hwy during business hours.  You may mail your payment to PO Box 80312, City of Industry, CA, 91716. There are payment drop boxes available at 55439 29 Palms Hwy, 6955 Old Woman Springs Road and inside Pacific Western Bank (No Cash Please).  You can call (760) 365-8333 Ext. #119 to pay by credit card or electronic check with a $2.95 fee, with a maximum payment of $150.00.

District Transparency Certificate of Excellence
HDWD was awarded the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation.  This certificate is in recognition of HDWD's efforts to promote transparency and good governance.  For more information click here.

Radio Read Meters Pilot Program
Meter Pilot Program Underway
In accordance with HDWD's commitment to service its customers efficiently, HDWD has launched a Radio Read Water Meter pilot program. These 160 meters will be installed in the area of Buena Vista Drive, between Old Woman Springs Road and Warren Vista Avenue.  If the pilot program is successful, HDWD will expand it in conjunction with its ongoing Capital Replacement Program.  For more information on the Radio Read Pilot Program click here

District Displays Children's Artwork in Lobby
Artwork From Morongo Valley Elementary School
HDWD's lobby displays various artwork throughout the year from local artists. Currently, students' artwork from Morongo Valley Elementary School, is being displayed.  The colorful display includes artwork from students who are in kindergarten through sixth grade.



Senator Jean Fuller Attends SB 246 Celebration Event
Senator Receives Tour of the District
Senator Jean Fuller visited the high desert area to celebrate the passing of Senate Bill 246.  Assistant General Manager, Mark Ban, gave a tour of HDWD's service area.  During the tour, they visited the future site of the Wastewater Reclamation Facility and discussed the Wastewater Reclamation Project.

Hi-Desert Water District Receives President's Awards
President's Special Recognition Awards
Each year, the JPIA (Joint Powers Insurance Authority) recognizes members that have a Loss Ratio of 20% or less in either of the Liability, Property, or Workers' Compensation programs.  Hi-Desert Water District is a member that has received this distinction for the periods of April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2012 and October 1, 2009 - September 20, 2012.
