ASSESSMENT DISTRICT BALLOTS TO BE COUNTED IN LESS THAN A MONTH

Yucca Valley, CA - After today, there will be 27 days remaining for property owners to return their completed ballots to Hi-Desert Water District (HDWD) for Assessment District 2014-1 (AD 2014-1). To date, HDWD has received approximately 2,400 completed ballots from property owners. In order for a completed ballot to be counted, it must be returned to HDWD by the close of the AD 2014-1 Public Hearing which will begin at 9:00 a.m. on May 13, 2015.

At the Public Hearing, property owners will have an opportunity to comment on Assessment District 2014-1. Once the HDWD Board of Directors hears all comments, all sealed ballots will be opened and tabulated in the open for the public to view. Koppel and Gruber, an outside agency, will be conducting the ballot count.

"We continue to be available to answer any questions that property owners may have about the Assessment District and the Sewer Project," said Ed Muzik, HDWD General Manager. "We are also assisting those property owners who have not received their ballots as of yet."

HDWD is working on getting replacement ballots to those property owners who have not received a ballot due to an incorrect mailing address filed with the San Bernardino County Assessor's Office or a recent change in property ownership. Replacement ballots are also being issued to those property owners who would like to change their choice on a ballot that they have already submitted to HDWD.

If you are a property owner who would like a replacement ballot or would like more information about the voting process and the Sewer Project, please call HDWD at (760) 365-8333 Extension 3 or e-mail [email protected]. HDWD staff is also available to speak with property owners Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Property owners are also welcome to attend a community forum held every Tuesday at        9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at HDWD offices.

Note: Koppel and Gruber, the ballot agency, cancels the barcode on the former ballot to make it invalid once a replacement ballot is issued.
