Assessment District Ballots Mailed to Property Owners

Yucca Valley, CA - On Friday, Hi-Desert Water District (HDWD) started the voting process for the Assessment District ("AD 2014-1") by mailing out ballots to property owners in Yucca Valley.  All ballot recipients will have until         May 13, 2015 to cast their vote on whether or not to support AD 2014-1. Approval of the Assessment District will secure a 1% interest rate loan to finance costs for the Sewer Project.

The ballot that will be received by property owners will include voting instructions and information about how to vote, and will be accompanied by details about the property's proposed assessment along with a public hearing notice. Ballots must be fully completed in ink and returned to the District before the deadline in order to be counted.

"The District is committed to keeping the community informed throughout the ballot process," said Ed Muzik, General Manager of HDWD. "We encourage all property owners with questions to contact us - we want to be a resource to help all voters make informed decisions."

HDWD continues to make information about the proposed Assessment District, the voting process, and the Sewer Project available in a number of ways. The District has developed an informational website, ProtectGroundwater.org, and hosts regular public meetings every Tuesday at  9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to provide a forum for questions.

The District has also made staff available to meet in person or via telephone with interested community members. Those interested in connecting with HDWD or requesting an in-person meeting are invited to email info@hdwd.com or call (760) 365-8333 Extension 3.
