PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dena McNeill, BBA President
2016-2017
I am very excited to share information on several outstanding and informative chapter events and conferences.  The Fall Institute (The Birthday Bash) was on October 21st at the Omni Houston Hotel and a huge success.  It provided the potential to gain 7 CPE points.  The Program Chair, Patrick Mason, and the committee worked diligently to plan an interesting and relevant conference.  We recently published our annual "Gold Sponsor's Special Edition" Newsletter.  The Communications Chair, Vania Duckett, and the committee also worked diligently to publish this additional Newsletter.  Did you know that we are the only chapter in the Texas region to publish this special edition newsletter recognizing our sponsors?  We appreciate our sponsors and invite you to join this elite group.  I appreciate Patrick and Vania for "stepping up" to support and improve our Chapter.

Please visit our website at http://www.hfmatxgc.org/ for a copy of the Gold Sponsor's Newsletter and information on upcoming events.

Make sure you know and understand the ABC's for the new Quality Payment Program (QPP).  This new program is focused on improving the quality of healthcare.  Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) is a component of this program.

According to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), "T he Quality Payment Program improves Medicare by helping you focus on care quality and the one thing that matters most - making patients healthier".  CMS goes on to outline the two options you can choose, an Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) or the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).

To assist Americans in understanding the QPP intricacies, CMS launched a detailed website.

According to the Urban Dictionary, professional courtesy simply means a sort of mutual respect between people in the same type of work. You've probably heard of this in the context of physicians, attorneys or policemen affording their colleagues with professional courtesy; it is also a philosophy of how to behave in a workplace environment, a professional etiquette of sorts. And while professional courtesy is not required, it has been found to make the workplace more enjoyable, with a more connected and engaged workforce.

Today, there seems to be a lack of professional courtesy in the business workplace.
