Greetings Everyone-

Thanks for checking in with us. We are immensely proud of the work we do for everyone!

Pictured above, we are currently building a 28,000 square foot truck maintenance facility for Rumpke utilizing concrete tilt-up construction. And as you'll see below, we are completing structural concrete at a Duke Energy Generating Station. When pour days roll around, it makes for an exciting time to be on a job site. Meticulous planning takes place among the crews and then suddenly, the concrete trucks arrive and we are building!

On the numbers side of construction, with labor and material costs continuing their climb, we are working harder than ever to reduce these impacts on your projects. Every year we are making big investments in technology to more effectively manage the work, drive up efficiencies and pursue innovative ways of getting the jobs done.

Best,

Mike Huseman

Every Day, We Build Our Community. Pay It Forward. Make A Difference. Consider The Planet.
On September 23rd, employees from HGC Group of Companies headed out to the Cincinnati Community ToolBank to participate in a 1-day, hands-on volunteering event called "Building on Our Community."

A few of our employees teamed up with other local construction companies, developers and contractors out at Camp Friedlander with the goal of inspiring others to volunteer in our community to make it a better place to live, work and play.

CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL

Addition and Renovations
Architect: Phillip Markwood
Architects
Project Type: Renovation

The design for the renovation of the 100 year old Centennial Chapel was challenging in part due to the C.B. Fisk organ not being on site at the time of design or construction. The project team worked closely together to ensure all issues were resolved ahead of time and the design met the size parameters and acoustical needs for the organ.

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY:

One personal philosophy is “a teacher is always a student.” When I was teaching in the art of dance expressions, I would learn from my students. “Once a person closes the door of learning, there is no room for growth.” Another personal philosophy of mine is “try to do what is right even if no one else is in view.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF WORKING AT HGC?

I would have to say my favorite aspect of working at HGC is having knowledge and experience of working in the field and in the office. I started in the field as a Laborer, then Apprentice Carpenter, and now I'm a Administrative Assistant.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO ON YOUR DAYS OFF?

I love spending time with my family, cherishing the moments. I love to sing gospel. I participate in various Community, State, and National Choirs. Walnut Hills will have another Feed the Hungry Concert this year. Donations of can goods and non-perishable items will contribute to those in need.
The "Rosie the Riveter" Spirit is Spreading Across the Construction Industry ad Women Become The New Faces Beneath the Hardhats
Simply put, the construction industry is one of the most male-dominated industries in the world. An astounding 91% of the industry is made up of men, leaving merely 9% of workers in the industry as women.

So, what is the best way to get women more involved in the construction industry? Get them involved in construction management. By placing women in leadership roles within organizations, it sends the message that construction work is not only for men.

There have been multiple case studies in the construction industry that indicate team performances are enhanced when women are involved in the workforce. Women can bring new or alternative perspectives on how to approach various challenges within the field and foster creative thinking. Additionally, adding diversity to the workforce is not only good for the industry but necessary in order to be responsive to client needs.

Seeing that women make up half of the world's population, it is only right that we see them able to thrive in any and every industry across our economy, the construction industry included.
Dating back to ancient Egypt, concrete is the most used material in the world in terms of overall volume. In fact, concrete is used twice as much in construction than all other building materials, including timber and steel. Concrete is so popular because it is composed mainly of materials that are cheaply and widely available everywhere, like air, water, sand and gravel.

Here, you see our SSRG team working on a project at Duke Energy, with HGC Construction, using concrete to help build the infrastructure for the future of Dry Ash storage.
