Message from our Principal

As another year comes to a close it is time to say Good-Bye to our 8th grade students and wish them well at Big Red next year. This is a time of not only remembering happy times and sad times but also a time to reflect on what you accomplished this past year. Did you meet the goals that you set back in August 2017? Did you come up short on some and on others you hit it out of the ballpark? As long as you take the time to look back and identify those goals you came up short on; set those as positives for next fall. It is never too late to re-evaluate the positives in your life and get rid of the negatives. Continue to work hard this last month of May. Have a safe summer and the staff and administration of HMS look forward to seeing the 5th through 7th graders back next August and welcome the 4th grade students from the district Elementary buildings.

As a reminder, please pull into one of the parking spots instead of blocking the first two aisles at dismissal. This helps allow for a smooth dismissal and eliminates traffic back ups in the lot or on Sunset. Your cooperation with this matter is much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Principal Bryan Mills

SADD Club will be continuing with our Relay for Life drive this month. On Friday, May 4th, we will be sponsoring "May the Fourth". This is known as national Star Wars Day. Students can wear their favorite Star Wars shirts, socks, etc. and bring a dollar or more donation to help support Relay. On Thursday, May 10th, we will be sponsoring Flip Flop day. Students bringing a dollar or more donation will be allowed to wear their flip flops or slides to school. In the weeks leading up to our relay, we will have different prizes offered for students for donations. Look for an informational letter to come home. Friday, May 25th will be our Relay at the track day. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a shirt prior to wear that day, as well as water, freeze pops, and cancer ribbons at the track. All proceeds go towards our Relay total. The class total (grade) that is the highest at the end of relay will get to face their teachers in a fun kick ball game the last week of school. Thank you for all your help with this wonderful cause!

Message from the Nurse

You should have received a letter from the nurse if your child needs vaccines for the 7th grade. Please get these vaccines as soon as you can. The Jefferson County Health department can help with these at a low cost on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 and 1-3.The State requires these shots to remain in the seventh grade. Within 2 weeks of the start of school if your child is not vaccinated with the meningococcal and Tdap vaccines, they will be kept out of school until they are properly vaccinated or an exemption form is filed with the nurse.
