"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom."
- Jesus in Luke 12:32
I found myself feeling anxious this week about HOPE resources and being well below budget so far in 2015. On most any given day that sort of worry doesn't creep in, but this week it did. And with kicking off our new message series "Faith for Life" last Sunday, now add to these feelings some guilt for teaching and focusing us on faith, yet struggling to see past some of what was on my mind.
The next morning, Jesus spoke to my heart with the words above from Luke 12:32. He often does that. Praise HIM.
Friends, we are His little flock. We are sheep under His perfect care, complete knowledge, and faithful provision. That's never reason to kick back, relax, and do nothing but spectate, but it is reason to pray, give, and work in trusting submission to Him. He tells us not to be afraid. Don't worry or be anxious. Don't let fear have it's way.
But more than that, God has been pleased to give us His kingdom. It's one thing to be taught not to be afraid. But it's a whole different ballgame when we're reminded that HIS KINGDOM IS OURS. Whatever God has going on, He gives it to us. He is delighted to give to us in this practically incomprehensible way.
May we trust Him more and more. Faith for life, all of it.
