Health Policy Commission Awards $11.3 Million in Investments through Health Care Innovation Program
Today, the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission (HPC) announced the launch of the Health Care Innovation Investment (HCII) Program, approving over $11 million in investments to 20 competitively selected awardees. The HCII program is a unique opportunity for Massachusetts providers, health plans, and their partners to implement innovative models that deliver better health and better care at a lower cost.
 
Chapter 224 of the Acts of 2012, the state's landmark cost containment law, established this competitive investment program to support health care innovation and transformation.

The first phase of the HCII Program invests in initiatives that span the entire Commonwealth. Funded awards will support collaboration among 144 organizations as diverse as large academic medical centers, health plans, world class research institutions, rural community hospitals, small primary care practices, community behavioral health providers, and more. Awards range from $250,000 to $1,000,000 and are divided among three pathways:
Health Policy Commission Releases Preliminary Cost and Market Impact Review Report

Today, the HPC's board vote to issue the Preliminary Report on  the latest Cost and Market Impact Review, examining the proposed contracting affiliations of New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) and its affiliates and MetroWest Medical Center with the Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization (BIDCO), as well as the related clinical affiliation of MetroWest Medical Center with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and its physicians. Pending the Board's approval to release this preliminary report, the parties will then have 30 days to respond to the HPC's findings. Following the period for written response, the HPC will then publish a Final Report.
