The Scholastic Book Fair is Back May 18-25!!!

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that provides the books kids want to read. It's a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.
Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Please make plans to come to our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child's reading habits.

Cash is preferred for payment.
Buying one book=dress down day later in the month!

Can't make it? You can order
here May 13-26

Remember, all purchases benefit our school. See you at the Book Fair!

CYSP Spring Camp

Have you visited our Facebook page lately? We have added an album and a video of our student's time at last month's CYSP Spring Camp. As the last CYSP event of the year our students had a blast with all of the activities provided by YMCA Camp Willson in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Despite the cool weather students learned survival skills, built water rockets, climbed rock walls and so much more. This was truly a treat and even our Mentors had an amazing time.

We are so proud of our students and their accomplishments this year and we can not wait to do it again next year!

You can click here to watch a short clip of students playing "Minute-to-Win-It"

We hope to see you next Thursday May 17th, at the closing ceremony!!

Special thanks to Camp Willson and our mentors for making this experience enjoyable for our students!!!

Summer Lunch Program

Woohoo!!! We are less than 4 weeks away from summer vacation. A time for family, friends, travel and food! The city of Columbus has made things easy for parents of children ages 1-18 to get a free meal this summer. Last Summer they provided over 630,000 meals at over 230 locations in the Columbus area.

The Summer Food Program offers free, nutritionally balanced meals during the Summer months at community centers along with other various locations. (Dates and times can vary.)These meals are served to anyone between the ages of 1-18. Meals are also available for anyone ages 18-21 who have been determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled and involved in an independent education program. This is a great opportunity to all eligible parents of growing children.

If you need more information on this program please follow the link below:

The countdown begins... Only 15 school days until summer vacation!

International Day

William Sloan Coffin is quoted as saying "Diversity may be the hardest thing for a society to live with, and perhaps the most dangerous thing for a society to be without." We take pride in the diversity of our students and the affect increased awareness and honoring diversity has had on them.

On Monday, April 30th students had the opportunity to enjoy International Day during their elective classes. Many students were able to represent their own country of origin while other represented cultures of some of our teachers as well.

Students created boards with information about their country of choice. Additionally, they dressed up in traditional clothing and shared delicious traditional dishes and beverages. Each class was able to enjoy this wonderful program and have an "international" experience. With such a diverse group of students we enjoyed this day to share food and culture
.

Visit our Facebook page here for more photos!

Special thanks to Ms. Rogers for organizing this event each year and to all of the staff who helped make the day run smoothly!

A Message from the Ohio Department of Health

Parents please familiarize yourself with Lindsay's Law. Lindsay's Law is about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in youth athletes. This law went into effect in 2017. SCA is the leading cause of death in student athletes 19 years of age or younger. SCA occurs when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. This cuts off blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. SCA is fatal if not treated immediately.

* "Youth" covered under Lindsay's Law are all athletes 19 years of age or younger that wish to practice for or compete in
athletic activities organized by a school or youth sports organization.
